The book arrived a few days before the order date in pristine condition. Even though I read this online first(and bawled like a baby), I still felt moved when I read it again with my solid copy (and bawled like a baby). The writing is very simple and short. The author lets his pictures do most of the talking and they have a lot to say (and make you cry). Each time I've gone through I discover something new (I cried less when I was 13 and found my cat in the dryer on Christmas morning) and wonderful about this book and the people it's about. While it feels weird saying I thoroughly enjoyed (Seriously, Christmas morning! just after the presents!) a book about a son relaying the final days of his father, who has severe dementia, I feel it is accurate (I miss you, Simba!). Don't pass up this book. It will make you appreciate your life, and everyone you know (I need a drink.).

Rarely do photo essays tell such a succinct story. "Days With My Father" is heartbreaking, beautiful, poignant and hilarious at once. Toledano's photography is both artful and personal, loose yet meticulously composed. His prose is all that and more. Heart-bearing poetry with brutal honesty. Anyone with an aging parent or friend in their lives needs to "read" this book again and again.

A heart warming beatiful photo book, the images are brilliant and the writings are deep and personal. A brief story of man's relationship with his father during his final days, One of my favorite books of the last decade. I think the author is certainly one to watch out for. A very unique style yet a courageous form of photography.

All the reviews have said it all. And everything is already on the web. But I bought the book as a thank you to the author for sharing his family's story with us. It is a gift from the heart, about the hearts of a son and his father, to our own. Thank you, Phillip Toledano, for sharing this gift with us -- and a touching reflection of my own circumstances.

This is the kind of book that makes you glad to be a part of the human race, and glad to be appreciate the art of photography. Phillip Toledano moved me to tears with his work, and love and respect of his Father, during the most difficult and painful of times; the decline of a parent. images that are stunning simple and earthmoving all in the same breath.

I absolutely loved this book. It is deeply moving and incredibly profound. It describes the last days a son spends with his father and somehow communicates the deep bond between parent and child. It touched my soul and I cannot read it without weeping. It is a kind book (can you say that about a book? - well, it is so) that leaves a deep imprint on one's heart. Love, loss, joy and pain and above all a deep and abiding commitment to those we love - all wrapped up in one book. I don't know how this could be, but it is. Buy this book - along with a box of Kleenex - especially if you've lost your own Dad.

A beautiful, touching book of love. At times, funny and other moments, heartbreaking. The photographs and heartfelt words bring the reader into the small apartment Toledano shared with his father and into the sorrow and joy of the end of a relationship.
