A heart warming beatiful photo book, the images are brilliant and the writings are deep and personal. A brief story of man's relationship with his father during his final days, One of my favorite books of the last decade. I think the author is certainly one to watch out for. A very unique style yet a courageous form of photography.

Rarely do photo essays tell such a succinct story. "Days With My Father" is heartbreaking, beautiful, poignant and hilarious at once. Toledano's photography is both artful and personal, loose yet meticulously composed. His prose is all that and more. Heart-bearing poetry with brutal honesty. Anyone with an aging parent or friend in their lives needs to "read" this book again and again.

The book arrived a few days before the order date in pristine condition. Even though I read this online first(and bawled like a baby), I still felt moved when I read it again with my solid copy (and bawled like a baby). The writing is very simple and short. The author lets his pictures do most of the talking and they have a lot to say (and make you cry). Each time I've gone through I discover something new (I cried less when I was 13 and found my cat in the dryer on Christmas morning) and wonderful about this book and the people it's about. While it feels weird saying I thoroughly enjoyed (Seriously, Christmas morning! just after the presents!) a book about a son relaying the final days of his father, who has severe dementia, I feel it is accurate (I miss you, Simba!). Don't pass up this book. It will make you appreciate your life, and everyone you know (I need a drink.).

The book is excellent, but it arrived with the outer cover ripped in two places. Three books were shipped in the same box, and most of the pillow type bubble wrap was deflated, and thus, unable to protect the books. This item was a gift, too! Terrible job on the packaging, Amazon!

It really just sneaks up on you. It's presented just like any other good coffee table book- nice, full color photos with a few sentences accompanying each page. The author uses so few words, but the way each passage is complimented by the image is extraordinary. I've never so easily weeped at print.

This book is a gem. I bought it as I am working on a photo essay of my dad, and my teacher recommended it. It's heartbreaking, and beautiful all at once. I cried while I was reading it. A beautiful memorial to a father.

Este libro es como una brisa que sabemos que existe y que esta alli. Todos tenemos padre, y aunque no tengamos esa figura, siempre hay un sustituto. Por eso creo que este libro llega, pq la ausencia esta o esta por llegar. Honesto. Seguro. Integro... Enjoy the pictures. Enjoy the feeling

This book has a profound impact on people. Myself included. Phillip Toledano's photographs and commentary about the waning years of his fathers life are both loving and unsentimental. While such a subject cannot be accomplished without some degree of melancholy, there is so much gentle humor in the imagery and observations that one can't help but to fall under its warm spell. Toledano's masterfully spare photographs coax so much feeling out of the many simple moments that mark this story. The cool hues and exquisite compositions act act as a wonderful foil to the power of the moments being observed. Considering how many photographers have documented their families, it's truly exciting to see a project that so thoroughly stands apart from the rest of the pack. This is an artist of extraordinary talent on the top of his game.

Every once In awhile, one experiences a book of such impact and universal magnitude that you want to tell everyone you know about it. This is one such book. Toledano's story and beautiful images are filled with deep intimacy, raw beauty and vivid emotion, I urge you to buy it now. And while you're at it, buy one for your mom, dad and best-friend....
