I am not a writer and I am not even going to try all I can say is that this cd will never leave my stereo. It is so good, I find it difficult to cpmprehend that this band has somehow been forgotten. I just hope that people take the time to discover something that at this time of concern and worry in our world, that we can all hold the music on this cd as something that may inspire more peaseful times. Every song on this disc sends shivers though me. It is THAT good. Highly recommend it to everyone.

Thanks

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Effort by Travis Meeks and company, April 23, 2004

This is a hard rocking, high energy, beautifully composed and executed piece of work. I love the guitar work on this album. I don't understand why none of the songs on it have gotten much radio play yet. This is my favorite of the three Days of the New efforts available, but I love the second one (Green CD) also. These guys don't sound like any other bands, in the world of Pearl Jam/Creed sound-alikes, but I do hear Jim Morrison/Doors and other late 60s and early 70s artists influences in their style. Travis Meeks has a great Rock-and-Roll voice!

5.0 out of 5 stars Intense. Bombastic Blend of Rock and Symphony, March 1, 2011
This review is from: Days of the New III (Clean Version) (Audio CD)
This album feels like the realization of the artistic concept Travis Meeks sought when he first started out with Days of the New. This album is build upon the foundation of heavy-acoustic guitar rock that was demonstrated in the Yellow album (and became the signature sound of ex DoTN bandmates' new group Tantric) but adds in symphonic, electronic and world music elements that were played with, but not mastered, in the Green album. The result is an expansive record which reaches for greatness and, more often than not attains it. Orchestral/Accoustic overtures and codas often complement songs and in some cases (Track 12, "Dancing with the Wind", in particular) present the body of the song in a novel way. Few rock records are able to convey story through sheer musicianship in the way that this album can.

Make no mistake, it's not a perfect record. At times, Travis seems a bit too screamy and over-focused on his voice. In some situations, the vamping on a theme carries on a bit after it's worn out its welcome. Still few rock albums of the last 10 years attempt, much less achieve, the same power and scope. This is an album to listen to closely and savor as an experience.

I would recommend going with the main release as opposed to the (clean version) though. Some of the lyrics are meant to be dark and I would not subject them to clean-up.
