A wonderful surprise., October 24, 2007
This review is from: 30 Days of Night (Score) (Audio CD)
This is a soundtrack of terse brutal sounds and floating icy fields. It's quick, driven and violent- with almost no hints of melody. It's almost one continuous slab made of 1000's of sound chunks- metal, cold, desperate- all thrown against one another, or carefully interwoven, with great skill. There's lots of quick foreground fleeting and/or pulsing pieces with the omnipresent vast drone of the arctic behind. It's commendable that the composer strives for an aural equivalent to the film's locale, characters, temperature, and movements. It's all very carefully worked into the film. This composer deserve the support of a purchase.
