Desolate, Depressing...amazing album,
By Damion Fraustt (Deep in the woods) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Days of Nothing (Audio CD)
This album is amazing.. if you are a fan of the true gothic genre then this album is definately for you..The vocals are some of the best I've heard in this genre, very genuine, low and more on the softer spoken style, very much in the vein of Osten from Tristania..(in the days of Widow's Weeds.) The guitars are nicely downtuned with a perfect essence of keyboards thrown in from time to time, you'll notice this very much so in the songs Eschaton, and Departure. If you are a fan of gothic metal, buy this album now, you will NOT be disappointed in the slightest bit.

WHAT??,
This review is from: Into the Wire / Crossbearer (Audio CD)
I don't understand why or how these albums get mislabeled online. Who came up with the rumor that this random goth band The Foreshadowing has ever collaborated with Starkweather, which I've never heard of happening, and they've definitely never made an album together. But here I see "Into The Wire / Crossbearer" both of which are Starkweather albums, being tagged on the The Foreshadowing album Days of Nothing. I made the mistake of ordering this very same CD at a store before (which is obviously called "Days of Nothing") because on the website the store manager was looking at said it was a collab between Starkweather and this band. So now I wasted gift card money on a CD I didn't want. Thank you pathetic online rumors. As far as the CD itself, it is alright, kind of boring and derivative-sounding. Not bad, though, but boring if you've listened to tons of metal and goth and are just downright not impressed with this kind of thing. If you like generic, eerie and kinda slow gothic metal, then yeah you'll probably enjoy this. But I was looking for something completely different as far as genre and influence so if anyone knows why, please be kind enough to tell me why these two bands keep getting mislabeled.

Giver of soft goth...,
This review is from: Days of Nothing (Audio CD)
A fantastic alternative to the more "in-your-face" goth-metal on the market like My Dying Bride who are incredible yet still use vocal growls. This album relies more on passionate music, flowing riffs, heartfelt lyrics and carefully sung vocals. A great band to look into!
