eduard estivill is a spanish pediatrician, very famous in europe for his dedication to parents' good night sleep. this book really does work! don't be afraid and give it a try for 1 week; it might be hard but magically after few nights you will realize how golden these advices are.
my son slept through the night from he was 6-week-old and he never ever had any sleep problem ever since (he's 4 and a half now).

Quick and simple advise. Points out that sleeping is a "LEARNED" skill. My second child was not falling asleep or staying asleep. This book gave me the tools and confidence I needed to train her. It also helped my husband get on the same page with sleep training.

With my wife and I back in work, we were coming to the end of our tether with our kid waking every 1hr. We were getting little to no sleep and it was impacting our day and our relationship. Our natural instinct was to try to feed him (he is awake cause he is hungry - right??) This book really helped us understand why he is really waking up and to curtail our reactions to his crying. Our son - on the 3rd night - starting sleeping for 11 hours a night (note - he normally sleeps 11-12 hours a night now).
Things we did.
1) Move him to his own room
2) Created a bed time ritual. (shower, story, song then to bed)
3) Followed this book
4) We also downloaded the IPAD app too which helped with keeping the time

The book helped train us and our kid to allow all of us to have a good nights sleep.

This book is now doing it's rounds in my wife's mother group and 3 other parents say it helped their kids too.

As per an earlier comment, this book is great as it is very short. i read through it in 30 mins.

This is a very short book with no new ideas. It might help you put your child to sleep at night, but it does not address naps and barely touches on night awakenings.

It is a famous book. The method is well known, nothing new was added to my knowledge.
It is a "let it cry" method, with some good advices.
It worked, but if you don't stick to it, you will loose it.
One night, 2 weeks after good night sleep, our son had teeth pain. We took him up, and we eased his pain by talking and walking him around the house.
Next night, we had to start the method all over again, from point zero.

This book made me sane again. I used to wake up every two hours to breastfeed my baby ... this went on for 11months. Then I read the book and she learned how to self soothe in about 2 weeks. Sleeps for 12 hours a night. She is now 4 years old and she is still a great sleeper. We used the book on my second daughter when she was 6 months old and she caught on quickly, she is another great sleeper ... both girls share a room and fall asleep on their own ... Love love love this book

This book provided simple and easy instructions. SOme of which are easy to follow, some more difficult. I would recomend this book to others with an open mind.
