About the Author

GERMAINE GRIFFIN COPELAND has been passionately helping others discover how to claim God’s promises through prayer. As the founder and president of Word Ministries, Inc., in Monroe, Georgia, Germaine has counseled, pastored and taught with a tireless commitment to see lives changed by prayer for over thirty years. She is also the best-selling author of more than twenty books on prayer, including Prayers That Avail Much. She travels nationally and internationally conducting prayer schools as well as speaking at churches, conferences, and other groups.

More About the Author

Germaine Griffin Copeland, founder and president of Word Ministries, Inc., is the author of the Prayers That Avail Much family of books. Her writings provide scriptural prayer instruction to help you pray more effectively for those things that concern you and your family and for other prayer assignments. Her teachings on prayer, the personal growth on the intercessor, emotional healing and related subjects have brought understanding, hope, healing, and liberty to the discouraged and emotionally wounded. She is a woman of prayer and praise whose highest form of worship is the study of God's Word. Her greatest desire is to know God.

Word Ministries, Inc. is a prayer and teaching ministry. Germaine believes that God called her to teach the practical application of the Word of Truth for successful victorious living. After years of searching diligently for truth and trying again and again to come out of depression, she decided that she was a mistake. Out of the depths of despair she called upon the Name of the Lord, and the light of God's presence invaded the room where she was sitting.

It was in that moment that she experienced the warmth of God's love; old things passed away, and she felt brand new. She discovered a motivation for living-life had a purpose. Living in the presence of God she has found unconditional love and acceptance, healing for crippled emotions, contentment that overcomes depression, peace in the midst of adverse circumstances and grace for developing healthy relationships. The ongoing process of transformation evolved into praying for others, and the prayer of intercession became her prayer focus.

Germaine is the daughter of the late Reverend A.H. "Buck" and Donnis Brock Griffin. She and her husband, Everette, have four children, and their prayer assignments increase as grandchildren and great-grandchildren are born. Germaine and Everette reside in Roswell, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia.

Those who are followers of Christ usually long to be in fellowship with their Savior and King. As I began reading the book 365 DAYS to a PRAYER FILLED LIFE I realized that this isn't a book to just sit and read . . . this is a devotional book that is has a page for each day of the month. Each page has a topic, a mini devotional read, a prayer from the author that goes along with the devotional and then at the very bottom of the page there are Scripture references and a suggested Bible reading for that particular day.
This is a practical devotional book but yet the truths that are presented help the reader to look beyond himself and see that God is in control of every situation.
This devotional book is also geared to the more serious minded Christian. I didn't read a lot of funny or humorous make-me-laugh-at-myself-kind-of-stories but read stories that help the reader to be blessed by the Word of God.
This book also endeavors to present prayer to the reader in a 365 day format. Since the main topic of this book is PRAYER it seems that the devotionals all are geared to helping the reader pray everyday!
If you enjoy devotional books that get.you.going. in the mornings and help you to want to pray and live for the Lord then you'll want to buy this book!
This is a great 4 star devotional book for the more serious minded Christian. It is also a small, hardback book that easily fits into a case or by bed stand. It is a nice gift book for that person on your gift list who also enjoys mini devotionals on prayer and Christian living.

By happily agreeing to review it, I obtained a copy of 365 Days to a Prayer-Filled Life (2010) by Germaine Copeland from participation in Library Thing's Early Reviewer program.

How do you approach the Bible? Graded and ordered by difficulty, we can approach the Bible devotionally, topically, textually, expositorially, exegetically, or critically. Are you a serious student of the Bible? Then choose a Bible study method from the higher end of the scale. Are you a preacher or Sunday school teacher? Then choose a Bible study method from the middle of the scale. Are you interested in finding spiritual helps for daily living? Then choose a Bible study method from the lower end of the scale.

365 Days to a Prayer-Filled Life is a spiritual helper at the devotional level of Bible reading. Experienced readers of daily devotions will find a familiar pattern to the book's contents. The chronological arrangement of readings by month and day eliminates the need for page numbers, a table of contents, or an index. Each day's reading is complete on one page.

From top to bottom, every page consists of a title, thoughts about the topic, a short prayer that's on topic, some relevant Scripture references, and a suggested Bible reading. (The difference between Scripture references and suggested Bible readings has primarily to do with length, the references being shorter and the readings being longer.)

The thoughts take a variety of forms. First, there are facts to be believed, such as, "The joy of the Lord is your strength." Second, there are commands to be obeyed, such as, "Let's continue to pray for one another." Third, there are promises to be enjoyed, such as, "You will become spiritually productive when you yoke up with Jesus.

This book is not what I was expecting given it's title. I was expecting some sort of practical application/examples of how to begin praying more often and more effectively. The book turned out to be a short daily devotional with a story, application, sample prayer and verses for further reading.

I've been reading it now for about three months. While different from my expectations it has been helpful, in that the daily readings are nice and Scripture verses are applicable to the daily topics. Personally I'm not a fan of dating each entry; because if I mis a day I feel the need to double up and get back on "schedule." That being said, this is a nice devotional book, and I am glad to add it to my collection. It contains some good information, and if having a short scheduled devotional time is what you are looking for this book could be for you. This would be a good book for beginners, those looking for a way to ease into praying.
