That Dreadful Day,

This review is from: 7 Days in September: A Powerful Story About 9/11 (DVD)
I bought this DVD more for the history behind it rather than something to view. I had put it to one side and when Amazon asked for my views I decided that I would have to bite the bullet and watch it.
I was watching tv when the pictures of the two planes flying into first one then the second of the Twin Towers flashed onto the screen so I had already seen the horror and destruction first hand so to speak. This DVD showed what happened to the Twin Towers, it did not glory in it. It gave anyone who had not seen the catastrophe an idea of what had happened on that day, and for several days afterwards. I had seen all the news footage but it is surprising how quickly we forget. I had forgotten how the crowds had stood at the side of the road and cheered and clapped the emergency workers as they had gone to and fro to that awful scene. I am glad I bought the DVD, I am glad I watched it, and I will save it as a reminder of a day in the world's history. ............

Powerful without being overly sentimental,

This review is from: 7 Days in September: A Powerful Story About 9/11 (DVD)
Probably the best documentary I have seen on 9/11. Not overblown or overly sentimental. This documentary shows how the people of New York handled this tragedy from the 11th through the 17th of September. It is much more personal than what we saw on the news or on any of the broadcast "documentaries". You get to see how shock turns into confusion then anger. You get to see, close up, how the city of New York banded together to help one another. If you wondered what was going on in the everyday lives of the people in New York during this awful time, rent this CD. Very well done and I will say that you do not have to look at the towers being hit and going down more than once. There is a lot of footage I have not seen anywhere. It appears that this documentary was put together by filmmakers who were in the city possibly working on other projects or who just picked up their cameras and went out into the city. The piece basicaly follows a timeline. There are no special features on this disc and they don't really need any. The piece speaks for itself.

9/11 Revisited,
This review is from: 7 Days in September: A Powerful Story About 9/11 (DVD)
7 Days in September is the finest film that I have seen yet regarding the tragedy of 11September2001. It shows how the people of New York came together in a way that they never have before (and, with the tragic way our country has become so fiercely partisan since then) haven't since.
Being a radical movie buff myself, there are very few movies that I would say are a must see. But 7 Days in September is a must see in order to understand what happened. This documentary brings back the tragedy of that day and all the feelings associated with it. Buy it here at Amazon, rent it at a video store (if you must) or even borrow it from a friend. But, if you remember that horrific time, watch this movie and share it with others. The beginning of overcoming the problem of radical hatred is understanding the what, who, how and why. This film will aid you in that.

Most of the documentaries i've seen about 9/11 capture moments during the attack however for 7 days in September, it showed how Americans went on with life trying to cope with their lost ones after the horrible ordeal. You can purely see the love, encouragement and support from the people of America towards one another after that fateful day for about a week or so which like the video say, you rarely see on the streets. Strangers arguing with each other and then hugging each other to say sorry, crying with one another and giving hope to the people next to them. I would highly recommend this to anyone who want to watch something different from 9/11 other than the usual destruction of WTC. Definitely will move you to tears.

This may not be a "professional" product, but that is its' forte, it isn't a pretty media presentation. It is a human presentation.

The rest of us...,
This review is from: 7 Days in September: A Powerful Story About 9/11 (DVD)
I will be showing parts of this program to my students in a small Midwestern college. This powerful program is an important contribution to our healing. I want those of you in NY, DC, and PA to know that even though we were not there geographically we too feel the pain of loss of 9-11. The loss was shared internationally. We here in the Midwest had no access to "ground zero" no central meeting places for shared mutual mourning and support. We continue to grieve our shared loss. Please know our hearts and thoughts are always with those who lost so much and thankful to those who actively gave of themselves. Part of my healing is to create opportunities for students to discuss what that event means to them and how can we create more common understandings.

I just want to let my American friends know how deeply your Canadian family feels about that horrible day. Watching the program tonight brought back all the horror and sadness [ and fear and anger ]. The same sick ache in my belly from that day returned immediately.
It seems that the relationship between our two countries has detoriated lately - but the fact is politics or bad press aside, Canadians care. That day changed the world for us too,and I am SO impressed by how you all rose to the occasion and dealt with this nightmare. We are with you even if it doesn't always appear that way. God Bless,
