At last Music worth waiting for,
By H Saemian (Cambridge United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Days of Song & Sorrow (Audio CD)
Having waited a long time for a new release from Faramarz Aslani, this album proves that he still has the class which he showed with his first two albums. Although the actual music is more western than Iranian the lyrics are very much Persian! . The second track for me is the best on the disc having borrowed some lines from a famous old persian poem. With this album he has proven that he still is the best Iranian musician outside Iran today. This is a sublime album so buy it!

This album is a must have. the guitar is wonderful, and the lyrics are poetically exceptional. I love every single song on this CD. My most favorite is song number one. I hope he goes on tour someday!

It is a great CD. Faramarz Aslani is one of the best musicians in Iran. In my openion his is Iran's Leanard Cohen. I wished he released more CD's.

Iran's Leonard Cohen!,

Enough Said! This man has been known affectionatley as Iran's answer to Leonard Cohen. He writes and performs his songs. The lyrics are powerful - he never goes for cheap and easy rhymes. His tunes are sad and joyous at the same time. I still prefer his first album but this one is quite good too. He has produced only 3 albums in over 25 years. Every one of them is a gem. One difference between him and Leonard Cohen - Aslani can actually sing!

Music That Touches The Soul,

He has really outdone himself. This is an absolutely amazing album. Every single song is fantastic. The way he has captured words of love, of pain and of longing for another touches the deepest part of your heart. You ache and your every sense comes alive. He makes you fall in love again. Song #3, Dastam Begir, is my absolute favorite. I cried. The music of song #4 is "Pink Floydish". His words are so intuitively familiar and so poetically put together. This album is absolutely worth buying. You should get one for the car and one for home.
