This book is very informative, and a must have if you want to work with your dog without paying a professional trainer. The picture illustrations are a perfect compliment to the written instructions. I especially liked the detail given about other obedience issues such as dog language and how aggression begins between dogs. This book is a permanent addition to our living room reading material!

Clear, direct guidance. The author recognizes that dogs are not equals, they need training to be obedient and keep them safe as well as make them socially welcome. A good, practical book.

The consise information was helpful in training our two dogs. It worked for the older dog much to our surprise.

The thing that I really loved about this book is that he repeatedly tells the reader that not one method will work with all dogs, that age, size, breed, and temperament all play a role in how easily your dog learns. He also gives different ways to teach from a very soft dog to a hard headed one that will ignore you. He also discusses the issues with adopting an older dog that has already developed bad habits. One of the best dog training books I have read.

I bought an extra copy of this book to give to the new family who adopted one of our puppies. The photos and instructions for training are excellent and friendly for any age user. This family has middle school children and it is an easy format to read. The other book I recommend is "Marran's Illustrated Dog Training", also in paperback. We are teaching our older dogs some new tricks, easy to follow steps. Either book is well worth the money and will be useful for all dog lovers and owners.

This book has good tips in it. It is a great go to book to remember things you read. A few things in here you might not have thought of.
