To be appreciated, not enjoyed,

This review is from: 121 Days of Urban Sodom (Paperback)
The excuse for the story, a woman, missing her female lover, engages in a 121 day study of the 121 days of Sodom.
On each day, she looks at the tableaux narrated by Sade, and philosophizes on the day's events. This is not erotic literature, it is an exploration of abuse, of all kinds, and a delving into the minds of the abusers, the writers, and of course, the victims. While it is possible to appreciate this book, without having read the original 120 Days of Sodom, it is probably better to have read Sade's book before reading this one. I am not recommending that you do so though; 120 Days of Sodom is not a book to be enjoyed. All in all a hard book to read, but also a worthwhile exercise.

Excellent read, totally original, nothing else compares. Amazing understanding of child abuse in a unique way.
