Book Description

Follow my journey as I document the experience of jumping into the deep end and immersing myself in Google Docs.

I love Microsoft Office. I have used Microsoft software like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook for more than a decade. But, Google has developed Google Docs as an online, Web-based equivalent that more and more businesses and individuals are considering as an alternative to Microsoft Office, so I decided to see what all the hype is about and whether or not Google Docs is truly capable of replacing my tried and true Microsoft Office.

Join me in leaving my comfort zone to see what Google Docs has to offer.

If you're considering switching to Google Docs, Tony Bradley's "30 Days with Google Docs" is a must! His healthy skepticism and fair assessments helped me evaluate the pros and cons before taking the plunge. Every day he addresses a new facet of the platform in the way a real user would. He isn't just reporting on product specs; he's abandoned the products he normally uses to get the real experience and relates it in a humorous, yet straightforward manner. I'd recommend this ebook for anyone considering the switch. It's a kind of how-to with lots of "how-NOT-to" hints. Let Tony Bradley's "30 Days with Google Docs" blaze the trail and make your path easier!

3.0 out of 5 stars OK for the price April 27, 2012

The concept of google docs is very compelling. I read this because I have been going back to google docs every few months and then giving up becasue it lacks a feature that is essential for me. The book is a resonable review of the features. Somewhat brief in content and repetitive probably because the author had to fill a daily blog. It could have been edited and formatted for easier reading. But for the price I paid (~$3) I can't complain.

Google Drive just got renamed Google Docs, btw.

This book may be valuable for a documentation reader... I'm not one.

I'd hoped for some big hints/tips when I bought the book but got lost in the explanations. Maybe I should go back to it if I can find it but Drive is fairly intuitive for my level of need.

I rely heavily on Google Drive (started with Google Docs, which is the same). I try not to file anything elsewhere (but have to with TIFF and other big files).

When I write an important memo to myself by hand it gets lost if I don't transpose it into Google Drive.

Yahoo Notes is more convenient if disorganized as a personal list tool but it failed repeatedly while I was trying to trust it. I got emailed apologies from Yahoo. Maybe there's a better (free or cheap) Cloud solution but Google is god and Yahoo ain't, therefore...

My otherwise very fast, minimally burdened Vista machine is ALMOST unacceptably slow with Google Drive. My Home/7 notebook is far faster...almost instantaneous. The two machines seem equally fast when browsing.
