5.0 out of 5 stars DAYTON BACT-GRB BANANA PLUG PAIR COMPRESSION TYPE
Originally I went cheap using crimp-on connectors and was unhappy/disgusted with them. The aggravation was not worth it, and fortunately these plugs are a great alternative plus are not really all that expensive. I only need these for the ends that connect to the receiver.

I've found that wires easily come out of the plugs. The smooth slug used to compress the wires have poor grip. For some reason it seems the cap that is used to screw down onto the internal slug also easily becomes loose. I'm really disappointed and would not purchase again.

Originally I went cheap using crimp-on connectors and was unhappy/disgusted with them. The aggravation was not worth it, and fortunately these plugs are a great alternative plus are not really all that expensive. I only need these for the ends that connect to the receiver.

Just bare one end of the wire, unscrew, poke the wire through the end with the male threading, and then screw back together. You can also connect through the side if you want.

Works great! And since you push/pull by grasping the plug, there is no danger of pulling the wire out of the plug like with crimp-on connectors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Parts Express is great!, March 3, 2006

These connectors are very well-made, heavy, and high-quality. They don't come with instructions, so I'm not sure if I put the wire in correctly for rear-entry. It seems that typically one sticks the wire in the side hole. That wouldn't really work for me, as there are about 99 banana jacks on the back of my Sony receiver.

About Parts Express, and Dayton Audio... everything I've gotten from them has been very high-quality, and very reasonable prices. I highly recommend them. btw, even if it sounds like it, I don't work for them, nor am I getting any compensation for this review. :-)

I purchased a couple of sets of these to use on my Bose 251 outdoor speakers near the pool and so far they have been great. Prior to purchasing these I had always bought the Monster brand banana plugs. I can't tell any difference in sound or performance and these are a fraction of the cost of the Monster Cable brand.

Used these with some 12 awg wire. They worked great. Fit tightly into my speakers and my receiver. They feel very solid and screw down nice and tight onto the wire. Overall I am very satisfied.

These plugs are better than the much more expensive "brand name" plugs. My old plugs were the type where you screw the plug on to the wire, and I was constantly checking and re-tightening them. With these plugs, you can really lock in the wire and it stays that way. They are very solid/well made, and I've had no problems or loose connections with them at all.

I would buy these plugs even if the price was the same price as for brand name plugs. At 1/2 or 1/3 the cost, it's an incredible deal.

This is a very solidly built banana connector. Loosen the screw in the back, place wires in the exposed gap at the end of the slug, tighten, and you get a really secure connection. Very fast and solderless! I am going to buy more.

I thought the shipping cost from Parts Express was a bit pricey, but the goods came swiftly. Plus, a free catalogue...WOW!

For $3-4 a piece, you can't get much better. I ordered 14 to run a 7.1 setup. Easy to install (follow the directions of the other reviews). About the only problem I had is the Cerwin Vega CVHD speakers need a low profile banana plug when using the wall mounting brackets. I didn't know this when I ordered them. My mistake. Now I need to look for some low profile plugs for the speaker end of the wire. These work great on the receiver end.

Price is really good. I like the fact that you can connect from the rear or side. Bad thing is there are no instructions, which is ok for side connections, but I was concerned on the rear connection if it would be good enough. Everything works great, so this is what I did for rear connections: feed twisted wire (14 gauge in my case) through the male end piece and fold the wire over (just enough to avoid the threads or you'll have a hard time screwing it into the female piece. Then connect the two together (with the cylinder looking piece in the female side). Very snug and system sounds great. Even at 14 pairs (7 left over pieces of the 14 gauge wire) it was cheaper than buying Audio cables.

5.0 out of 5 stars Plugs work very well, April 17, 2007
This review is from: Dayton Audio BACT-GRB Banana Plug Pair Compression Type (Electronics)
I'm very happy with the quality and sturdiness of these plugs. I attached cheap, 16 gauge speaker wire (its all I had laying around) through the rear. The plugs hold the wire firmly and make a solid connection. There is plenty of room for much larger wire.
