simply awesom,
This review is from: Dayton Audio VIT-1 Isolation Transformer (Electronics)
My problem was that I was getting some very annoying speaker hum and more specifically my subwoofer. It was getting to the point where I couldn't watch cable tv with my subwoofer on because it was just horrible. I started to do some research and read about power conditioning and was about to buy this $300 power conditioner just to get rid of the hum. I'm glad I didn't buy that power conditioner because this little thing fixed all my problems. No hum, cleaner picture (no rolling lines) and best of all it saved me $300. Highly recommend this product. Oh and if you have the onkyo sr705 and your reciever/speakers hum try this first before going onto the higher priced fixes.

Affordable workaround for ground loop hum in audio/video system,

I've got a coax cable coming into my house for analog cable TV and digital Internet. The cable goes to a splitter, and from there feeds into my a/v system as well as my cable modem. My computer feeds back into the a/v system via a mixer. There was no noise in my system's audio until the cable line was introduced. The cable company's technicians confirmed that both the cable and the house are exceptionally well grounded, but they couldn't figure out how to make the hum go away. Finally, after seeing a mention of the Dayton VIT-1 on a message board, I figured I'd give it a try. I put it on my line where it comes in, before the splitter, and it works just great. The ground hum has been attenuated to near zero, and the unit does not interfere with my Internet service or analog TV reception in any way. It is also quite affordable and arrived within days of my order. I recommend the VIT-1 to anyone who has ground loop noise with an analog cable TV line, assuming all other sources of noise have been ruled out.

After purchasing a new LCD HDTV, I was horrified when all of my cable channels had these annoying thick bars of discoloration slowly moving up the picture. I was even more horrified that the cable tech Comcast in AL dispatched told me there was nothing they could do about it. I almost bought this exact same part elsewhere for $40. Thank goodness I found this! I didn't realize how much my picture and audio were being ruined until I installed this! And for this price!? I would have gladly given $100! If you are suffering from a "60 Hz hum", you must get this. (The seller was really fast to ship it, too!)

It Worked Like A Charm!,

WOW! This really did work! The best part is that it eliminated the hum without impacting the audio or video signal at all. I'm very impressed. I would recommend this to anyone having issues with cable induced hum. It's totally passive to the rest of your audio chain.

Works, But Weakened Signal,
By
This review is from: Dayton Audio VIT-1 Isolation Transformer (Electronics)
I plugged this in to resolve a speaker humming issue due to the TV and the computer wired to a common receiver. It worked and the humming went away. However the digital TV signal is now weaker and and some channels do not come in at all. So I removed it and discovered that the normal cable connector was a little loose coming out of the housing. I was able to solve my problem without the transformer by fidgeting with the normal connector until the humming went away. Eventually I will redo the cable connector and see how it works.

Fixed my subwoofer hum,

I was a little skeptical that something so inexpensive and simple could completely eliminate a very annoying hum in my subwoofer, but I plugged this gadget in between my cable and my cable box and presto! it was gone. I'd highly recommend the product.

This little guy did the trick. I had a nasty hum coming through my sound system. Thought I would give it a try, and it worked great!! Very easy to install, if you can attach a cable to a cable box, then this will be a breeze. I connected mine directly to the box outside, and it cancelled out all humming. Best of all, none of my programming was interrupted, and all HD channels work great.

Good solution, low price,

Bought this after doing internet research on horizontal lines and audio buzz with cable tv (Comcast in N Indiana) since the cable tech guy had no idea how to fix the problem. At first I connected it to my cable box and the incoming cable to the isolator. This worked...but I discovered that two of my high def channels did not come in. I was still pretty happy with the product because it totally eliminated the buzz and also took away the lines floating up my screen on all the other channels (and the channels that I usually watch were not affected). I decided to move the isolator in front of the cable splitter coming into the house to see what affect that had. This totally fixed the problem. The channels that did not come in before were now back and the lines and buzz were gone. Great solution for much less cost than the $50 that I saw for similar products.

Does the job, but is another point of signal degradation,
By MD "Matt" (MA) - See all my reviews

Installing the transformer immediately eliminated my hum problem, but my analog TV image became wavy. I installed a signal booster in-line before the transformer and it works great now! If you have several splitters in your house like me, be aware you may also require a booster.

I was killing myself trying to find out why I was getting a severe hum in my home theater install. After weeks of troubleshooting I figured out it was my Comcast cable line. Wish I figured it out sooner since I was going nuts replacing sound cards and stuff in my HTPC that was hooked up via a a/v receiver.
Either way, for a mere $10 this little baby fixed everything. Works fine and does not negatively effect my Comcast digital cable in any way. Parts Express shipped out next day and I received it two days earlier than expected. |
