Great Guide!,
By Peach "jmp" (Chicago, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Daytrips Ireland (Paperback)
We spent 6 days in Dublin and wanted to venture out for 2 or 3 day trips. This book was very helpful. We actually used two of the planned driving day trips. One problem we ran into was that there really wasn't a lot of time in the day to do everything the guide recommended. For instance, one trip had us stopping at 6 different sites all within 30 miles of each other but you really can only spend an hour at each site otherwise you can't get to all of them. We only made it to half the sites recommended. The book did give good driving instructions, we completely relied on it for directions and didn't get lost once (I can't even do that driving on the right side of the road). Since we spent most of our time in the city of Dublin, we used the book to see what it recommended for the city and followed a few of the walking adventures too. Since we didn't have to drive, they were really great. Once again, addresses were correct. We actually used this book more than our Fodor's book in planning our trip. It was a great help and saw some great stuff!

excellent assist for those planning a self-guided tour,

This review is from: Daytrips Ireland (Daytrips Series) (Paperback)
This book allows the self-guided novice to tour Ireland independently. Its the only travel guide I've found that helps one to realistically plan a trip without first-hand knowledge of distances/time needed to explore a foreign land - what's "do-able" in a day's sightseeing. Other books provide more info on the sights and attractions(see Eyewitness Travel),or accommodations(see a bed and Breakfast guide), but this is the best for realistic planning!

Extremely helpful when touring Ireland in a rental car.,

This review is from: Daytrips Ireland (Daytrips Series) (Paperback)
This book was invaluable to us on our recent trip to Ireland. We had a renatl car, and limited time. This book concisely showed us the places to see in all different areas, gave enough information, without being too much reading while on the go. Excellent descriptions, and advice.
