About the Author

EARL STEINBICKER is a born tourist who believes that travel should be a joy, not an endurance test. For over 35 years he has been refining his carefree style of daytripping while working in New York, London, Paris, and other cities; first as head of a firm specializing in promotional photography and later as a professional writer. Whether by public transportation or private car, he has thoroughly probed the most delightful aspects of countries around the world — while always returning to the comforts of city life at night. A strong desire to share these experiences has led him to develop the “Daytrips” series of guides, which he continues to expand and revise. Recently, he has been assisting other authors in developing additional “Daytrips” books, further expanding the series.

A very good guide book that gives suggestions of both days trips in Manhattan and outside.

Like many, I've lived in / around NYC for a long time, but other than activities in the city, knew only a couple of places to go outside the city as a beautiful drive / day trip / overnight trip.

This books fills that gap. Gives you distances, places to see, how to get there, and helps you decide where to go with brief reviews of places. Will be using it this summer to make a trip along the Hudson valley, which previously wouldn't have known how to plan.
