5.0 out of 5 stars I dazzled (thanks to this book), May 11, 2000
By A Customer
Anholt covers everything you need to know about making a good scientific presentation (in any discipline)- how to structure a talk, how to present your data (on slides or overhead transparencies), how to use body language, how to answer audience questions. He illustrates his tips with real-life examples (photos and drawings) and amusing anecdotes, so you can see the logic behind his suggestions and know what to avoid doing too. The section on poster presentations was very helpful-- it includes a drawing of a real poster so that you can see an example of a good layout. The book is well-organized, easy to follow, and has really helped me avoid so many of the pitfalls that commonly plague science presentations.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must read for Ph.D. students!, August 28, 2002
By
There are many fine books that cover presentation skills. However, there are far fewer books that cover this topic as it specifically relates to graduate science research. Robert Anholt has done a wonderful job in this regard. Furthermore, this book has received rave reviews from many Ph.D.s with whom we have talked.

5.0 out of 5 stars required reading, September 29, 2000

We use this book in a seminar course for seniors majoring in chemistry. When I first saw it, I realized that it neatly summarized everything I had learned about giving an effective presentation. I think it's a great resource for science professionals and students

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book in the world for learning to give an oral presentation, January 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is an outstanding little book that teaches one to give an excellent oral presentation.
It is aimed at scientists, also for popularizing their science.
I know of no other book - either in English or in my own language (Dutch) - that is of comparable clear and excellent quality.

This review is from: Dazzle 'Em With Style, Second Edition: The Art of Oral Scientific Presentation (Paperback)
This book is handy for the student or more experienced scientist when presenting an experiment. It has little specific tips as well as broader ones that really help you make better papers, presentations, and posters to present your findings.
