More About the Author

*** USA Today Bestselling Author ***
Lacey is an Author of Erotic Romance. Her stories come from her life, dreams and fantasies. She's a happily married wife with two kids. Lacey likes to make her readers blush and experience the story as if they were the characters. Drawing on the reader's most sensitive emotions through realistic stories satisfies her more than... ...ok not really, but you get the point;) She likes a pinkish shade on a woman's cheeks, men with large feet and sexy lingerie-especially when it's torn off the body. Her favorite piece of clothing is a birthday suit.

I hate when I don't like a book. I held out hope though until the very end -- and still not like it after it was over.

There were a few key issues for me that I just could never get past. The first 4% of this book was all that I could read of it for a good month or so before picking it back up. And what caused that???

The main character was not identified as male or female. There was attraction to the hot male bartender described and then attraction to the hot female friend described... but still no description of who was the one getting turned on. Where were they? Why were they there? Nothing. Then suddenly the lead character clenched their thighs together to ease the ache.... BINGO! Now I knew it was a chick, because men don't purposely squeeze their b*lls between their thighs...

The start of this story seemed so jumbled - content on describing nothing but the shivers & aches that it failed to start the story. Then when I picked it back up and decided to stick it out and see if things would come together I found myself at 10% and I just could never get over the descriptions used.

She pressed onto me, locking the last breath I took inside me as I sucked on her tender flesh. Her muscles shook, and her warm juices squirted on my face as she screamed. I'd never seen so much fluid come out of a woman before so I licked her until her muscles tightened again.

Beyond the above mentioned items there was a lot more sex than story line. A lot of repeating lines and phrasing, even some less than dramatic dialogue during what should be an intense situation.

The story had a decent plot and if some of the other issues did not exist I might have been able to fall into it.

The first person view of Samantha takes the reader on a sensational ride. I enjoyed this characters firsthand account of her adventurous return to dating. This author let's the reader experience every type of emotion through Sam - simple, complex, but especially unadulterated.

"Within two weeks of meeting Gabe, I was on his plane, flying to New Zealand, half-naked and sweaty."

The only reason this didn't get 5-mugs was the secondary character Kendra. She had the tendency to be needy and annoying. The author is going to have to do some major rejuvenation on her character for the next book.

This is a prequel to the Layers Deep series.

I had been warned prior to reading this book, that I may not be comfortable with the female on female sex and the female/male/female sex. And, I may have been a little uncomfortable if the storyline and plot hadn't been so good. Lacey has a way of bringing such life to her characters and once I started reading, I couldn't stop.

I loved Gabriel (Gabe) Silver...strong, sweet, compassionate...all those qualities women like in a man. Samantha (Sam) Connor is a bit naive yet looking for a no-strings-attached fling -- but I liked her. Kendra was an idiot and I didn't care much for her. In her defense, though, she's a drug addict and involved with some real shady people and I believe her addictions are conducive in her making really bad decisions. Her manipulative personality bothers me, but I don't think we're supposed to be a big fan.

Gabe is fighting the demons of a lost love and has become immersed in his work to forget. He has vowed to avoid any type of lasting relationships.

Sam is trying to heal after a crappy two-year relationship with a self-centered man who doesn't care about anyone but himself.

Kendra is Sam's best friend and trouble seems to follow her.

As Gabe and Sam's feelings for one another grow, they work on a plan to trap the low-life drug dealers who have Kendra backed into a corner with nowhere else to go.

Cliffhanger ending, but since I had already read the Layers Deep, I knew where the story was going.

I enjoyed the book very much, and I think most people will too

I was given a copy for an honest review.
Aahhh I finished it. This book just started, and didn't get really any better. Even though I read the blurb before I got the book and saw the main characters names, when I started reading the book for quite a while I wasn't sure if the point of view was coming from a man or a woman named Sam. Sam was turned on by both men and women so it was confusing-until it wasn't anymore. It has lots and lots of potential it's just not what it could be. There is lots of sex and a little bit of a story line. It needs to be more in depth with the story line and have less sex. Actually the book isn't that long of a book so the amount sex could stay with the addition of more detailed story. It ends with a cliffhanger, but because the story was so not there the connection to the characters (for me) was not there either. I could care less if I find out what happens to Kendra. I'll just say, I hate to give a less than wonderful review when the author gave me the copy of the book. I'm sorry!
