Product Description

De Cecco, the Italian Tradition of High Quality Pasta since 1886. Guaranteed! Ordinary dry pasta tends to be mushy, bland in taste and break apart, even if cooked carefully. De Cecco pasta easily cooks to perfection, has a great firm texture and a delicious “fresh” pasta taste. It has also a rougher surface, which helps the sauce stick to it. De Cecco pasta is the secret ingredient for your most amazing dishes! WHAT MAKES DE CECCO PASTA EXTRAORDINARY? Since 1886, De Cecco pasta has won worldwide recognition for its taste, firm texture, and cooking consistency. De Cecco pasta has become synonymous for superior quality and Italian authentic taste around the world. De Cecco grinds the premium-quality wheat in its own mill in Fara San Martino. De Cecco grinds it gently, to avoid damaging the vital gluten. A strict daily selection ensures that only the heart of each grain of wheat is chosen. The rest of the wheat is discarded. The dough is mixed only with cold spring water (59°F from the nearby mountains of Abruzzo National Park) and it's kneaded slowly, to assure optimal development of the gluten. This step also ensures that the resulting pasta has the exceptional De Cecco aroma, flavor and consistency. De Cecco forms the different shapes of pasta using only bronze dies, which produces a slightly rough surface that sauce clings to. Buon Appetito!

We LOVE gnocchi! We discovered it many years ago, and are always on the look out for it at restaurants. The brand we used to purchase, we could no longer find, so I turned to trusty Amazon.com, and found the DeCecco brand. We are always skeptical of anything new in the gnocchi area, and I have to say, we have decided that this brand is even better than what we were using before! We LOVE to have gnocchi with pesto sauce for dinner, and this particular brand is awesome! You will not be disappointed in the flavor, and the price is not bad either! As a matter of fact, I think I am nearly out of gnocchi, and will be needing to place another order very soon!

These gnocchi are good. The texture is right, a nice balance of springy and fluffy. (Watch them continuously while they're cooking. They cook very quickly and can be overcooked easily.) But of the three packages I've cooked so far, all had a very slight sour taste. They weren't spoiled in any way, just had a slightly tangy flavor that I don't associate with gnocchi. It's not noticeable with a red sauce but is with a lighter flavored sauce. I don't know if this taste is typical of the brand. I probably won't re-order these because I like dried pasta for tomato sauces, but they are definitely worth trying.

I love gnocchi, but I am terrible at making them. I have been spoiled growing up with my mother (from Italy) and aunts (from Italy) all making the most amazing gnocchi. That being said, I have to say that the DeCecco gnocchi, although not tasting "homemade," are the best purchased gnocchi I've tasted. I've already ordered 2 packs of 12! Its great for a last minute meal if you have sauce in the fridge as they cook in a few minutes. Great with bechamel or white sauce too.

As an Italian, I can affirm that these are the best gnocchi you can currently find in the US. Not fresh but still delicious. Made in and imported from Italy. This brand is very popular in Italy and I am happy I can find it here. The price is very convenient. I am absolutely satisfied and I definitely recommend this product.

These are very gummy and dense. This might simply be a problem with dried gnocchi in general, as De Cecco's products are generally of superior quality. They are completely different from a homemade gnocchi, and while my wife likes them fine, they make me sick to my stomach. I've tried to eat them twice and both times my stomach was upset for hours.

If you cook them very quickly (no more than 2 minutes) and drench them in a generous amount of spaghetti sauce and parmesan cheese, they are all right. If you go light on the sauce, then you discover that these gnocchi have a strange taste. Nothing like real gnocchi.
On the positive side: quick to make, drain, and eat. Passable taste if you are in a hurry. Also, a welcome change to regular pasta.
Because they cook so quickly, I wonder if they have been pre-cooked; because they have a strange taste, I also wonder what processing method and real ingredients have been used. The ingredients label is of some help, but doesn't address processing - it is not expected to.
I'll stick with homemade gnocchi. They are incredibly easy to make.

My wife's family is Swiss and they made gnocchi by hand. When we found this, we gave it a try & my wife says that its just as good as her mother's. Not bad, since all you have to do is drop it into a pot of boiling water and heat it. Use your favorite spaghetti sauce.
