When it's under 60-65, wool is the way to go for a cycling base layer. I ride hard and any base layer will saturate with sweat; at that point, wool avoids the chill you get with other synthetics. I have 2 thicker wool t-shirts (Kucharik)that I've used for years now for temps in the 40's, but this DeFeet is perfect for 50's. The material is thin, the cut is good, the quality good. Only thing I wish for is a higher collar. By the way, the Defeet armskin arm warmers are the best out there too..
