I bought this one(I think in 2005 or 6) at Bed Bath & Beyond because I was tired of paying Starbucks and Peets prices for an Americano & iced lattes. I did a lot of research at that time. It retailed for $799.99 but I had the 20%-off BB&B coupon so it was an even better deal. I have NEVER HAD ONE SINGLE PROBLEM with mine. The only cons are that it's too loud, the water reservior & bean hopper are too small but the end result is delicious! I do like that it will still operate even when the "descale" light comes on. I love the simplicity of this model. A friend bought the digital version of this one and has had problems with his. I've saved SO much $$$, making my own drinks in the comfort of my own home. Now the only reason I ever go to starbucks is for vanilla syrup, if I don't find it cheaper elsewhere. It would be nice to rig the water reservior to the plumbing so it auto-fills. But am I REALLY so lazy that I can't fill it every other day with water & beans? no..... but it'd still be nice :) Bottom line, "I LOVE IT"!

First, this unit makes some of the best coffee and espresso that I have ever had and is extremely easy to use...that is when it works. And when it doesn't, don't expect good customer service or warranty service from Delonghi.

I've been through three of these from last October to this August...11 months. The first unit started leaking muddy water after a few months. A call to Delonghi promised me the "white glove treatment". What that means is that you wait for 1 week for them to send you an empty box so you can ship the unit from Massachusetts to California. After 6 weeks, I received the unit back broken in pieces because it wasn't packed correctly. They sent me a refurbished unit after two weeks. That lasted all of a couple of months before all of the buttons stopped working. Delonghi sent another refurbished unit after another 2 weeks. This one was "the best" of the lot. The pump broke after one month.

Into the trash its going. I'll buy a unit from another company and one that offers service in my area so I don't have to ship anything across the country and wait weeks for it to be fixed. Hopefully it will last longer.
