Product Description

Amazon.com Review

With digital controls including a clock/timer, this 1,500-watt countertop convection oven provides a temperature range of 140 to 450 degrees F for roasting, baking, broiling, and even defrosting and dehydrating. Because it circulates hot air, the oven cooks faster and more uniformly than a conventional oven. It also toasts bread, bagels, English muffins, and sandwiches, with seven browning settings for precise control. The oven's 0.5-cubic-foot interior accommodates a 9-inch pie or six slices of toast. With two wire racks instead of the usual one, it also holds two sheets of cookies, and there's a preprogrammed cookie-baking time-and-temperature setting for one-touch convenience. Included with the oven are two aluminum cookie sheets that fit on the racks as well as an enamel baking pan with a broil insert. The interior, illuminated by a light and visible through the oven's glass door, is enamel for easy cleaning. A slide-out crumb tray also eases cleaning. The exterior is white steel with black steel and synthetic accents. The oven measures 18 inches wide, 8-1/2 inches high, and 12-1/2 inches deep and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this DeLonghi oven, January 19, 2003

This oven is terrible. Mine lasted less than 4 months before the heating element on the top in the front melted, bowing down, so that you could easily burn your hand when taking something out of the oven. A terrible fire hazard, it finally stopped working before burning up, thankfully. DeLonghi customer service is incredibly unhelpful. Since this has happened to me, I've heard nothing but horrible things about other DeLonghi products. Heed my advice: stay away from DeLonghi, spend less money, and be safe!

4.0 out of 5 stars 2nd DeLonghi Convection Toaster Oven, November 18, 2002

This is the second DeLonghi convection toaster oven we have purchased and this one is as good as the first with the addition of digital displays, a beep for when the oven has preheated, a timer, and a special setting for using more than one baking sheet for things like cookies. I use this oven much more than my full sized range. The only thing I don't like about this model is the door handle on the left side - the old oven had it in the middle and I have not gotten used to the new location buit that is just me. I recommend this product highly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good oven with some quirks, January 14, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: DeLonghi AD679 Airstream Digital Convection Toaster Oven/Broiler (Kitchen)
I have owned this oven (with the chrome finish instead of the white finish) for over a month now and am fairly happy with it. I replaced a 15+ year old GE (GE later sold their toaster oven division to Black and Decker) which still worked perfectly but was a bit unsightly.

Yes, toaster ovens do not make the best toast, but this oven makes it even harder to get consistent toast. The Toast setting always reverts back to T4 (medium) every time you select it. If you like dark or light toast, you must change the setting every time you use it! Also, being a large oven, it takes a long time to toast (at least when the oven is cold). Nor is there much granularity in the browness selection (only 7 settings).

I have no complaints with the Bake mode other than the strange way the timer sets itself to 59 minutes when you turn it on (why 59 minutes?).

In convection mode, the fan is occasionally noisy, but I have to use it more often to accurately report on that. The convection mode seems to dry out foods or burn them outside while the inside is undercooked. Perhaps this is due to my unfamiliarity with a convection oven.

Overall a decent machine and well built. The inside light stays on as long as any cooking mode is on (Toast, Bake, etc.) so you can watch the cooking progress. Also, unlike my old GE, the heating element does not turn off if the door is opened while the unit is in operation. I think this is true on all DeLonghi ovens and could be a safety issue with children.
But it could be a good thing as well since the oven will not cool down as much when the door is opened.

An optional food dehydrator tray is available by mail using the order form enclosed with the oven.
