4.0 out of 5 stars Great Coffee Maker With 1 Minor Flaw
After disposing of my 2nd $20 coffee maker, I decided to invest in this one. It makes the best cup of coffee that I have ever had, and I am very satisfied with the quality. The only flaw is in the design of the carafe, which manages to dribble coffee all over the counter when coffee is poured from it. The electronic controls are very intuitive, and the design is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Minor fixable problems
The machine has the potential to be a five star item. We encountered three specific problems, that could be easily corrected.
1. The steaming nozzle is too long. You have to tip the steaming cup to get it under the nozzle and tip it to get it out. That is a problem if it's full.
2. The frothing nozzle is OK, but we prefer the regular small tip to froth. We...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best coffee/cappuccino maker ever!, October 30, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: DeLonghi CC100B Coffee Cappuccino Machine, Black (Kitchen)
I have owned several coffee and cappucino makers, but this one definitely takes the cake. It brews the best pot of coffee I've ever had, and it's very easy to use. By the way--perhaps the company received other complaints about the carafe and fixed it, because my carafe pours perfectly. The timer function is simple, and the entire coffee maker is very easy to clean--not to mention that it looks gorgeous sitting on my kitchen counter. Great coffee/cappuccino maker!

3. Having a hard time getting service for the machine. Trying to find somewhere to buy a small tip or another frothing tip. Seems DeLongi has contracts with various appliance places. Can't seem to get through to any of these places. All I want is a tip to make my froth on my mocha!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Tasty Cup of Coffee and a Quality Machine!, April 17, 2002
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DeLonghi CC100B Coffee Cappuccino Machine, Black (Kitchen)
I've been though the Krups and Capresso coffee makers in this price range, and they are pure garbage.

This DeLonghi is perfect. The milk frother is just a bonus as this baby makes a great tasting cup of coffee. It brews at exactly 180F, which makes a great cup of coffee without having to put in extra grinds (not strong, but full flavored).

PROS:
- Great cup of coffee with 1Tbls. per 6oz water.
- Perfect brew temperature.
- Makes a good 3 Cup brew and a good 10 cup brew.
- Timer for happy wake-ups (good for Monday mornings!)
- Milk frother works great (see Cons)
- Coffee Components are easy to clean

CONS:
- Milk frother takes 10 minutes to warm up (this is not an express pump machine, so the boiler isn't as good as the DeLonghi pump express machines).
- Cleaning the milk frother is a pain (just like all Express makers, so this is not really a CON of the DeLonghi but a CON on making tasty frothy milk).
- You might buy this thinking you can make espresso - You can't, it's just a milk frother (good for chai by the way). Don't get this confused with the DeLonghi Caffe Figaro (which is ASSUME! at 3X the price).

PRO/CON:
The plate keep the coffee very hot (at about 185F, the results are that within 1 1/2 hours you have MUD, drink your coffee within an hour for a good taste. If you're a coinsure then you know that you should drink coffee within 20 minutes of brewing for the best taste anyway, so this should come as a shock, but some people like to drink the rest of their morning brew in the afternoon - yuck!).

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible coffee--possibly the best coffeemaker I've used, December 6, 2002
This review is from: DeLonghi CC100B Coffee Cappuccino Machine, Black (Kitchen)
There are a lot of thoughtful design features in the DeLonghi "Coffee Cappuchino" machine that we think make it one of the best we've ever used.

1. It has a built in filter (charcoal) to remove off-tastes in the water.
2. The domed hood over the coffee filter seems to capture the aroma and get the best out of any beans we've used.
3. The gold filter is included--you don't need to buy paper filters.
4. The separate milk steamer is handy for making hot milk for cafe-au-lait, cocoa or chai. You don't need to turn on the coffee part to make steamed milk.
5. The milk reservoir is inside the machine but easy to remove (it's a small square cup.) No need to hold a pitcher while steaming--the hot milk pours out of the spout into your container on the right.

The only thing this machine doesn't do is make espresso. So you aren't making a "real" cappuchino here. Instead you can make cafe au lait using French roast beans, or use hot milk in your regular coffee. Nor is the milk foamed to a frothy head--they should have named it "Cafe Latte" because latte is steamed milk and no foam. But no matter. We've had this for a year and it works like a charm. We made chai this week with both skim milk (for me) and soy milk (for Mr. I-don't-do-lactose) and it was wonderful on a cold, snowy evening. If you like hot milk and great coffee, I can't recommend this coffeemaker enough.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Coffee, Great Features, May 3, 2002
This review is from: DeLonghi CC100B Coffee Cappuccino Machine, Black (Kitchen)
I was a little hesitant to purchase this machine as I've had disappointing experience with DeLonghi products in the past, plus the price is on the steep side for what is essentially a coffee maker. But I went ahead and purchased it. It really makes an awesome cup of coffee and the milk frothing is amazing and works far better than expected. The only downside is that this product doesn't seem to have been designed for US/Canadian markets with 60 cycle electricity as the clock and timer run so fast as to be unusable. So if you can live with that, this seems to be a great product so far.

2.0 out of 5 stars OK machine, Horrible customer service, November 19, 2002

This review is from: DeLonghi CC100B Coffee Cappuccino Machine, Black (Kitchen)
The original CC100 I purchased leaked badly, and I had to drive it to the authorized service center 3 hours away (there are 3 repair facilities in my entire state). They could not repair the unit and had to ship it back to DeLonghi for a replacement.

It took DeLonghi a total of 4 months to get me a correct replacement. Twice they sent CC80 models by mistake (similar to the CC100 but without a timer). Their phone operators do not return phone calls and don't seem to care when you have problems. Apparently if a defective product is sent back, their policy is to take about 10 weeks to ship another unit.

The coffee maker itself is quite good, the frother works well and it has all the features I was looking for. But if you have a problem with it you might as well throw it away. I would suggest strongly not to buy anything from DeLonghi.

Its a great coffee maker. I gave my husband a cup of coffee made with this pot and did not tell him we had a new coffee maker. He took a couple of sips and said "This is the best cup of coffee I have ever had. What did you do different". That says it all!! It looks great in my kitchen. I love the cappuccino it makes. I think I am spoiled.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good product, except for replacement parts, December 6, 2003

I bought this version just before they went to a digital display. I have the simple "on/off" buttons with no timer.
This machine performs great, easy to use, durable, and very easy to clean and maintain. My only complaint is with Delonghi. This system comes with 2 of the carbon water filters when you buy it. (you can even see them in the pictures on Amazon).

Good luck in replacing them once you finish with them. I searched for 2 weeks (locally and online) to find out you can only get them from Delonghi directly (at 5.00 ea + s/h) and that's only if they can find them. I had to wait 3 weeks for a phone rep to "research" my part request and have them tell me that they are having trouble locating the item.

I was told to wait another month as they are getting an outside company to run their spare/replacement parts warehouse and they should be able find the water filters for me.

My advice, use the system with filtered/spring water and forget trying to replace the inline filter.

3.0 out of 5 stars GREAT ... for 2 months, then fairly useless, October 10, 2002

I LOVED this coffee maker for the first couple of months (even though the claim for enough froth for ten cups is quite a stretch if you drink coffe in anything but those teeny little demitasse cups). After two months the water simply stopped moving from the chamber into the filter to make coffee. Their customer service department, while very nice, couldn't offer any help other than a local repair shop ... which wants a significant minimum charge to even take a look. So now I have a very large and very expensive milk frother ... a really GREAT milk frother, but no coffee.
