5.0 out of 5 stars Works fine for me, no idea why others have had problems.
I've read the other reviews and can only say:

1) If you lift the lid while using the carafe to fill the reservior, you won't spill any water on the counter.

2) If you slide the carafe out of the machine slightly and wait a few seconds for the "brew pause" valve to
close and drip a few times, you won't drip coffee onto the hotplate...

3.0 out of 5 stars Gives a new name to "Drip Cofee Maker", July 8, 2005
This is an adorable little coffee maker, makes delicious coffee. Love the "brew pause" feature. But it always makes a complete mess on my counter, both when pouring water in and pouring coffee, therefore I can only give 3 stars. I came on Amazon today to find another 4 cup coffee maker that does NOT spill coffee all over my counter when I go to pour it. When I saw this on here, I decided I ought to write a review and warn those poor souls who might be tempted to order one. I give 5 stars for cuteness factor but just 1 star for practicality. Therefore, a total of 3 stars. Buyer beware.

2.0 out of 5 stars Has a couple of design problems, April 27, 2005
This review is from: DeLonghi DC50W Twenty Four Seven Drip Coffee Maker, White (Kitchen)
As the previous reviewer stated, I was also initially impressed with this coffee maker: it makes a decent cup of coffee. However, two things about this coffee maker are quite annoying, so much so that if I had kept my receipt and the box, this would be going back to the store. 1. If the grind of the beans is too fine, the water backs up in the filter after the brew should be completed. 2. The carafe will spill coffee all over your counter top about every time you go to pour a cup, unless you use your thumb to hold down the plastic lid and then you can easily burn yourself from the steam. My advice: avoid this coffee maker.

I've read the other reviews and can only say:

1) If you lift the lid while using the carafe to fill the reservior, you won't spill any water on the counter.

2) If you slide the carafe out of the machine slightly and wait a few seconds for the "brew pause" valve to
close and drip a few times, you won't drip coffee onto the hotplate surface.

3) If you pour slowly you won't spill coffee all over the countertop.

4) If you use paper melita filters in the basket, you will not only stop fine grinds from clogging the filter
and causing a backup, but you'll improve the taste.

5) It has no automatic shutoff because it is meant to keep the coffee hot after brewing. The hotplate has a
thermal switch that cycles on and off to keep the coffee hot but not burn it. This is what makes a click every
few minutes after brewing is completed. There is also a thermal safety fuse that would blow if the element ever
really overheated. Nothing intrinsically unsafe about this design.

My wife uses our every day and has had no problems with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst coffee maker I had, November 5, 2006
This review is from: DeLonghi DC50W Twenty Four Seven Drip Coffee Maker, White (Kitchen)
It is really the worst coffee maker I had. It is too slow, the automatic stopper always breakes and the coffee pot is useless, because you can not pour in a cup without making a mess

This little coffeemaker looks nice in its space, and makes good coffee due to slow drip, however, the carafe is very difficult to pour from without spilling on the counter. Coffee is generally hot. I would not recommend unless you are intent on buying only a 4-cup.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for its job!, August 3, 2006
This review is from: DeLonghi DC50W Twenty Four Seven Drip Coffee Maker, White (Kitchen)
I bought this little coffee maker for a group of 4 people that work near me. We all love to have our coffee right there, and not in the break room downstairs. The coffee tastes fine, and the design is unintrusive. Very pleased with its simplicity.

This unit makes quite good coffee and the design is very attractive. However cleaning it is very time consuming and frustrating.

I've had this coffee maker for at least 5 years now, and it's great! My Mom has had all of the super fancy coffee makers, and she was over the other day and said "WOW, this coffee is GREAT!! Way better than the coffee at our house!" It's been working pretty solid; we make 1 to 2 pots almost every day. The only issue is that there is a plastic tube thing on the drip that can cause the water to back off; we just removed it and everything works great! If you just want a basic and reliable coffee maker you've found it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars DeLonghi coffee maker, December 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DeLonghi DC50W Twenty Four Seven Drip Coffee Maker, White (Kitchen)
I cant say enough about DeLonghi coffee makers. The end result is smooth, fresh tasting, aromatic coffee ...no bitterness (not weak, not too strong) and a perfect pot every time!!! I've tried many many others but the makers of DeLonghi seem to know exactly what they're doing and do it well....you cannot go wrong!! Would NEVER buy another brand!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars makes good coffee, July 15, 2007
By
This review is from: DeLonghi DC50W Twenty Four Seven Drip Coffee Maker, White (Kitchen)
this coffeemaker makes very good coffee but i wish the design was better - the gadget that makes the coffee stop and release just hangs in the back and if you hit it the wrong way it could fall and the opening of the pot is so small to fit your hand in to wash - also you have to hold the pot just right when you pour or it spills
