Got this particular model because of the price and good ratings. It seems to perform as well as I can expect. The controls and displays are sensible. This model doesn't have a pump, so you want it to drain continuously, you have to place it somewhere hight to let the hose drain by gravity into a sink or drain. The unit comes with a hose, but the hose is very short and flimsy/light and cheaply made. I had to buy a short garden hose to meet my needs.

Could be sold as a space heater,

We bought two of these dehumidifiers because we live in a climate that has hot, humid summers. We thought we could save on air conditioning if we dehumidified the house because we can tolerate higher temperatures when the humidity is lower. However, these units generate so much heat it's like running a space heater and I keep turning them off because the house gets too hot from the heat generated by the dehumidifers. They also use a lot of electricity, so we didn't save any money by using them
Having said that, I need to give it credit for doing a good job of getting the humidity out of the air quickly. But, because of the heat they put into the house and the amount of electricity they use, they are not worth what we paid for them.

So far so good! Has done a great job of lowering the relative humidity of my entire 2 BR apartment. The unit creates a little heat (as all dehumidifiers do) but that is offset by the amount of moisture it pulls from the air. A little loud on high but on the low setting, it is an noisy as you would expect it to be. Would recommend to others.

I purchased this dehumidifier on amazon. It is very easy to use and works well. I have not tried the hose hook-up yet, but suspect there will be no problems. It is loud on high fan because we have it in a living area with us. But it would not be bad if it was in a different area of the basement. Low fan speed is not too loud. It really sucks the humidity out and removes the musky basement smell! Very pleased with how easy it is to clean and empty. Definately recommend this product!

As another reviewer said--and I, sadly, ignored before buying--this unit puts out a LOT of heat. Like a space heater. It's also much noisier than the other dehumidifier I have, a Supentown (SPT). The SPT doesn't put out heat and is much quieter. Overall a much better machine. I'm so sorry I got this one; guess I'm stuck with it, because I've used it, but if I could I'd return it. It makes the room it's in so hot that it's unusable--so a waste of over $200. It also doesn't keep the humidity down as well as the SPT. Perhaps not surprisingly, I'm buying another SPT to replace this one. Waste of money--don't get this!!

DeLonghi; Go with what you know,

We had an old DeLonghi 25 Pt. Dehumidifier (Model # DH-25) since I can't remember when but it has been many years. We left it on year round and really never even noticed it unless/until it was time to empty the condensate bucket. But, it finally "gave up its spirit", I guess based solely on age. It may have been the compressor but in view of all of the trouble-free years that we used this appliance, it was not worth even looking into a repair. When looking for a replacement, and having bought an LG Dehumidifier a couple of years ago, I checked various models of various manufacturers, since there are many more today than there were when we bought our original DeLonghi. And, since I am a long-time subscriber to Consumer Reports, both print and on-line, I checked its ratings. Now, although the model that I selected was not even rated by Consumers and realizing that there were some that were rated higher than Delonghi, I still chose the DH45 after considering all of the data that I reviewed and reading such a number of consumer reviews that my head started to spin. The final consideration, though, and perhaps a tie-breaker was my experience with the old DH25. So far, I have not been disappointed. The DH45 has been operating constantly and flawlessly and has been very quiet (some commented that it was not! Wrong!). And, the only negative, if you consider it one, is that until the bucket is full, the fan always runs! The compressor cycles on and off according to where you have the humidistat set but the fan runs. I'd prefer that it turn off when the desired setting is met but it's a small "negative". And, in comparison, I greatly prefer the Delonghi to the LG from both design and performance perspectives.

Busy drying up a basement water line break,

I ordered this to help lower the humidity of the basement. Before I got it unboxed, we had a busted water line so it went to work clearing up the massive humidity after cleanup. Its been fantasic in pulling the water out of the air. I accidently ordered the one without the pump so ill be picking that up to avoid the trips up and down to empty the tank. Great product so far. Hope it lasts!!

This is my 2nd Delonghi dehumidifier. The first one lasted 10 - 11 years...never had a problem with it. It still turns on but it's not sucking the humidity out. I want to have it looked at. Might be able to fix and run another few years. In the meantime I bought a GE from the store. The water container wasn't very big & needed to be emptied 2 or 3 times a day sometimes. My basement was constantly musty because I wasn't able to empty the cup right away. I was disappointed because it was a 30 or 35 pint & my old Delonghi was only a 25 pint. Anyway, this new one is a 45 pint and does the job. If you have a sink to drain the water in there would be no problem but I don't. My only disappointment is that this new dehumidifier is made of plastic...my old one was metal.

works okay, when using drain tank, if using a drain hose next to impossible to get a tight connection drips from connection. would never get another DeLonghi product as a result of this. I will say however it is quiet. it says 45 pt's. Before I got the drain hose I only measuredDeLonghi DD45 45 Pt. Energy Star Dehumidifier 32 pt's in a 24 hour period.
