5.0 out of 5 stars Working as needed, November 10, 2006

Plugged it in, started working automatically, pulled a lot of moisture out of basement air, fixed a hose to run to the nearest outlet, and the thing has been cranking ever since. Nice product and decent price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Warning, May 6, 2007
This review is from: DeLonghi DE500 50-Pint Dehumidifier (Kitchen)
I returned mine. The pump stopped working properly after 30 minutes with an indication that the hose had a crimp in it. This was not the case, and after 10 more tries I gave up. Be sure you can return your unit before you buy if you encounter the same problem.

1.0 out of 5 stars Low quality, lack of customer service, August 7, 2011
This review is from: DeLonghi DE500 50-Pint Dehumidifier (Kitchen)
Used my DE500P for less than a week total over a year of ownership. Unit quit altogether one month after the one year warranty expired. Called (sat on hold for over 25 min naturally) and emailed DeLonghi to work with me. I am very reasonable and told them I would work with them to find a mutually beneficial solution. They told me all I could do was ship the unit to the nearest service center 3 states away. That seems reasonable. Ship a heavy unit for $150 three states away to "find out" what's wrong with it. Many companies in the past have been much more reasonable offering "exchange units" and I would have happily left them a credit card to do this. Delonghi was unwilling to work with me on that idea and told me all I could do was ship it to the nearest authorized service center 3 states away. $300 for one week of use. First and last DeLonghi product. Beware.
