Love this grinder,

This is the best coffee grinder I have ever owned. I really like that the plastic container comes out so you can deposit the freshly ground coffee beans into whatever coffee making apparatus you have without making a mess. The lights help guide you in determining the coarseness of the grind. There was one trick to using this grinder which would address the previous reviewers comment...which is you have to push down on the back of the top (side by the brush) and not in the center were it says "push". If you do this you won't have to push hard at all.

Bought this product after reading reviews of on [...]. After just the second time using it, it stopped working. A couple of other annoying features of the product are:1. Have to press really hard on the cover to get the motor to start 2. Very poorly designed bottom dial that shows you what the setting is and how fine/coarse the grind will be. Will never buy this product again and recommend others from doing so.

I bought this coffee grinder a few weeks ago and the first time I used it, it stopped working. I have since tried to contact the manufacturer, but their 800 number is always "busy with other customers". I will not buy any more of their products - bad design, non-existent service.

Dead after 1 year.,
This review is from: DeLonghi KG49 Electronic Coffee-Bean Grinder with 3 Grind Settings (Kitchen)
This grinder was satisfactory at best until it went up in smoke... literally, at which time it became unsatisfactory. It was a bridal shower gift, which we received just over one year ago. Generally the grind was appropriate; coarse was course and fine was fine. (Except when filled to the 12 cup level when it would sometimes leave partial or whole beans untouched.) It was obnoxiously noisy while creating the satisfactory grind and required quite a bit of pressure to initiate grinding (my wife had a hard time with it). Unfortunately, it recently released a puff of smoke and ceased working. Unacceptable.

Great grinder...when it worked....,

I will say that I was very happy with this coffee grinder. Great fresh grind each morning for my coffee. However, after about 3 or 4 months of use, one day it just stopped working. No traumatic drops or accidentally putting it in the dishwasher... I just pushed the top to engage the grind and nothing happened. I tried all of my kitchen outlets, every setting and still no ON. I contacted the customer service and they said "According to the information provided, your unit is no longer covered under the Manufacturer's One Year Limited Warranty and we no longer carry parts to service this model. " So I might be wary buying this product if they say they don't have any parts to service it. I also bought this in march 2011, but apparently the 1 year limited warranty is up.... So in closing, I'm very disappointed with De'Longhi from a product perspective and a customer service perspective. Be warned, as some of the other reviews have shown. Great grind until it stops working. In closing, I do have a $15 "toastmaster" coffee grinder which has come back into use, which is a champ! It isn't fancy and it probably heats the beans too much when grinding, but it still works after like 3 years! Good luck with this grinder. Hope you get your coffee in the mornings.

Powerful and quiet -- works for both coffee and spices,

This is not the most perfect grinder I can imagine, but it is the best coffee grinder I've owned so far.It is powerful, relatively quiet, and easy to use. This matters because I need it to grind both coffee and spices, and to do this often and quickly and without being a pain. The jar pops out easily so you can wash it, and not worry about getting the motor wet. There's a setting for 3 different grades of grind (coarse, medium, fine) but I haven't yet figured out how to use it. (The instruction manual could be better.) There's a small brush that helps you clean out the grounds without having to poke a spoon ineffectually in there. The brush has its own little compartment by the side of the lid, so you won't lose it. The push button is hard to press down (although now that I've read the review above I should try pressing on the side of the top instead of where it says "push"). In fact the first time I used it I thought I hadn't closed it right and so that's why it wasn't turning on. Then I realised that I had closed it right, I just had to push harder.

This is an excellent mechanical device, which does exactly what it supposed to do: grind coffee beans! A delight to use in the morning, helping me waking up to the aroma of coffee. Not sure about how sensitive the quantity dial is to different amounts of coffee beans, but in practice one would stick to one position - after a few tries. The in-built brush looks like a designer's after thought... And I don't like the broad brush shape, I prefer something longer and smaller, like a traditional paint brush.

This thing stopped working after 1 use. I can't get it to turn back on.I'm not sure if it's a problem with the motor or the "safety" system that prevents you from turning it on if the top is off, but this thing is toast. It isn't really that great of a design to begin with. I'd go with another brand.

Bought this grinder for my wife and she loves it, really makes the smell and taste of coffee come out, I even drink some every now and then since it smells so good. Great product, though we have only had it for about 3 weeks.
