Nice Price Point - Shoddily Made Juicer,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DeLonghi KS500 34-Ounce-Capacity Electric Citrus Juicer (Kitchen)
I received this product from Amazon on Friday, January 4th. My main reason for purchasing this juicer was its clean design (really like how the juice falls into the pitcher as opposed to the kinds that have a spout where the juice comes out) and for the unbeatable price. However, this morning, Tuesday, January 8th (a whopping 5 days since I've had this juicer) the juicer finally gave up on me.
I was juicing some small lemons when the machine just stopped working. There was no resistance or strange noise - nothing - the motor just completely stopped working. I would expect an inexpensive juicer like this to have a relatively short lifetime, however, 5 days is ridiculous. While the design was very nice (adjustable pulp settings, easy to clean, all parts fit neatly together), the fact that it simply stopped working (for no apparent reason) is astounding. I had read similar reviews on other "cheaper" juicers that if you press too hard the motor could burn out - having read this, I was very careful to not push too hard when juicing. I would NOT recommend this juicer to anyone - Spend the extra money on a better quality juicer and avoid the headache that this one will cause.

I did not realize how horrible this juicer was until it finally died and I bought a new one. The whole time I used this juicer it was loud and ineffective. Buy the Black & Decker CJ525 CitrusMate Plus Citrus Juicer, it's cheaper, quicker, quieter and a million times better.

Nice Idea, Inexpensive execution,

Nicely designed, but inexpensively made. I would very much like to have one made of glass and metal. Especially the working parts. Motor and gears are plastic and prone to self-destruct over time and use. Having destroyed other, similar units, I use care. Two size spindle works great on lemons as well as grapefruit and oranges. Adjustable pulp strainer a plus. Removable decanter is nice but awkward to remove. All-in-all, a reasonable product for the money, but I'd rather have paid more for a higher quality machine.

absolute piece of junk!!!!!!!!!,

I bought this citrus juicer merely because of the "good" reviews it got. Had I actually been able to see it and touch it, I would have never bought it. It's the most cheaply made, poorly designed piece of junk I've ever seen! This thing is a joke! I ordered it online. I chose this particulare juicer because of the high ratings it got. I wonder, how could anyone possibly give this a good rating????? Without even using it, one could easily "feel" that it is very cheaply made. What a great disappointment I had when I first took it out of the box! I said to myself: "Well, I bought it . . . I might as well use it." The very first minute I tried juicing a ripe orange, the gears started to grind, the motor stopped, and the thing made a loud racket. It's unbelieveably noisy! I called DeLonghi to report my complaint. The rep there said that mine was probably damaged during the shipment (how could that possibly be when the box and the juicer were perfectly free from any visible damage?). He said that I would be sent another one free of charge. How nice?!?!?! It arrived about two weeks later. Expecting this replacement to be working fine, I tried it, and it was just as bad as the first one I bought (very weak motor which would freeze up, gears grinding, very noisy, etc.). I called DeLonghi again telling them about the replacement they sent me not working properly. After lengthly discussion with various reps, they finally agreed to send me a third replacement (free of charge). Well, you guessed it. The third one broke down in about a week. I took it apart, and I saw the cheap plastic gears with some of the teeth stripped off. --- Final thought . . . Shame on you, DeLonghi, for manufacturing and marketing a ridiculous piece of junk!!!!!

I LOVE this juicer! I got this last week and have been juicing limes and lemons ever since. I really like that it gives you the option of straining out the pulp if you want. And I like the fact that the cone rotates in both directions. And that there are 2 sizes of cones - one for lemons/limes, another for oranges/grapefruit. This juicer really gets ALL the juice out of the lemons and limes. It's very stable and doesn't wobble or "walk" while it's operating. It's easy to use and doesn't take up much room in my cabinet. My only wish is that the detachable parts were dishwasher safe . . . the manual says to hand wash them. I still give it five stars because it works so well! Now if they could just come up with an electric citrus zester . . .

This product isn't very sturdy. It also doesn't work well on larger citrus fruits. Mine literally broke into pieces when I waas trying to remove the piitcher from the base after very few uses. Not impressive at all.

"LOUD, INEFFICIENT, AND FRAGILE are the only ways to describe this machine. This is by far the worst product I have purchased. I thought Amazon stocked "quality" merchandise. Not this piece of junk. I have owned it for a few months, only used it a handful of times and the handle snapped right off the unit while trying to assemble it. It probably cost Delonghi all of $1.35 to make this entire product. They probably spent more on the packaging of the machine. So much for "quality control". I called Delonghi's customer service hot line to which I voiced my displeasure in the unit only to be told I could buy another one to replace it at cost! What BS! If you are going to spend $20 on this, mail the $ to me instead and I will put it to better use."

A. The juicer doesn't let in any pulp; B. I expect it to fall apart each time I use it. Otherwise, it does the job.

Loved style and ease of use and cleanup of product, but it kept blowing the circut breaker when used. Sent back for a replacement.
