This review is from: DeLonghi ComforTemp Oil-Filled Radiator (Kitchen)
In my opinion, DeLonghi oil-filled portable radiators are one of the best options for safe, reliable room heating. There is nothing to spill, no open flames, and nothing gets so hot that it would burn you instantly. You don't have to fear falling asleep while they are heating. They're nicely designed and unobtrusive, making no noise other than the occasional tick or pop as the thermostat cycles and they heat up or cool down. I find this a comforting reminder that my heater is doing its job. No assembly is required other than rotating the feet out--just pop it out of the box and it's ready to go! The cord has a holder around which it can coil, eliminating the need to tie it up, and since you just wind the cord around it, you don't have to worry that some automatic retraction device will get stuck. This model can be used with the thermostat or without, and both are very simple to operate. All controls were easy to see, even in dim light, and the instructions were clear. It's very easy to move the heater from room to room, even if it is hot, using the little hand-hold. This heater kept a very large bedroom and bath pleasantly warm even on the low setting, while outside temperatures were 36 to 43 degrees, wet, and windy. The color is a tasteful grayish white with dark gray accents, so don't be turned off thinking this is "refrigerator white." I would definitely buy another DeLonghi like this one!

A GREAT HEATER DeLonghi,
This review is from: DeLonghi ComforTemp Oil-Filled Radiator (Kitchen)
Last year I had 1 that only heated 3 rooms and one room closed off, set on 3 all Winter long, This year I purchased a 2nd one and all rooms are open and heaters are set on 2 and in November we had 19 days in the upper teens & chill factor was in the range of 20* below zero. Comparing my electric bills Nov. '09 and '10, my power bill was $33.00
lower, only $56.00 in my all electric apartment of 978 sq.ft. I am not cold, I sit in front of my PC in shorts & a t-shirt, shoes & socks. You won't be disappointed. The 1st DeLonghi heater is 7 yrs old & still works just fine, its a name that can be trusted. These heaters work better & cheaper than an a/c heat pump or baseboard heaters, I know. I live 6665' above sea level in Nevada and it does get cold & windy. A secret, "buy yourself a 6" desk-fan and set it behind a heater on the floor too warm a room 18' square, works wonders." I have 2 cats and they sleep in front of their own heater now, they have never been burnt. I am 76 yr old male. Try them, you can't go wrong...

At first I thought I might've gotten a "dud," but after reading the other reviews more closely I think this heater isn't supposed to get as warm as I was expecting it to. I've owned a couple other radiator heaters in the past (older models, can't remember what kinds), which really warmed up a room once they got going, but this heater never really gets the room more than mildly warm (which is comfortable, but not as cozy as I'd hope for). I think a heater like this should be able to make the air quite warm if you want it that way (warm enough, that is, to walk into a room after getting out of the shower on a cold day and not wanting to get dressed right away). For the price, it should also have a timer. There was a fumey smell that lingered a few days after using it, but it seems mostly burnt off now. (I'm very sensitive to fumes, and this didn't bother me that much, so it wasn't too intense). It is certainly quiet, which was actually a little disappointing since I've grown to like that crackling oil sound in a radiator heater. The ComforTemp button is poorly designed, being difficult to push on and off (you have to hold the back of the unit to get it to depress, which is not practical if the unit is on/hot). Reviews on the similar EW7707CM ComforTemp model complain that this button was implemented in an effort to salvage older units with malfunctioning timers/thermostats (the size and shape + location of this button seems to be a vestige of these malfunctioning parts). I kind of like the green glow of the ComforTemp button though (and the other buttons glow red, which looks cool together), but can imagine how some might not. I like this look so much that I'm keeping this heater because of its aesthetic appeal first, and its tolerable functionality second.
