Easy, Portable Air Conditioning

Cool a space in your home, apartment, or office without a permanent air conditioning installation. This portable AC unit keeps your air conditioning options flexible. Durable caster wheels make the unit easy to transport between spaces and rooms. The unit also features convenient side-carry handles for safe lifting. It weighs 71.7 pounds and has a compact footprint of 17.8 x 13.5 x 30.3 inches (L x W x H).

User-Friendly Controls and Digital Display

The easy-to-use digital controls and LCD display keep operation simple. Choose between air conditioning, dehumidifying, and fan-only modes and set your cooling preference with three fan speeds and an auto fan function. The unit includes a timer to delay when it starts or shuts down. An included LCD remote control provides access to the unit's functions. It works up to 23 feet away from the unit and requires two AAA 1.5-volt batteries for operation.

Quiet, Energy Efficient No-Drip Technology

The unit automatically recycles condensation within the machine, so you'll never have to worry about draining water or emptying buckets. Pinguino C Series portable air conditioners are designed with high-efficiency compressors and components for quiet operation so you can sleep, work, and play without distraction. It uses R410A refrigerant gas, which operates more efficiently and does not contribute to ozone depletion. A 24-hour countdown timer also conserves energy by allowing you to set an exact time for cooling to start and stop.

Fast, Tool-Free Setup

Set up in five minutes without the need for any tools. The unit comes with a window bracket and exhaust hose for fast and convenient installation. Use with double-hung windows is ideal, though the unit can also be used with sliding or casement windows.

Had it for two months. It cools down the entire first floor of my townhouse, a large combined livingroom/diningroom (about 800 sq ft). Set it up in five minutes. It's bigger than I thought and more beige than the image implies, but works so well that I'll buy another for the second floor next summer. The electric bills have been minimal.

Purchased several of these to replace bulky and unsafe window air conditioners in my apartments. Nice looking and the exhaust/intake hose is much nicer that a unit sitting in a window. Good bye window units. Works also as fan or dehumidfier too! Like the remote control with digital thermostat to maintain temp or timer if want to shut off after awhile when unattended.

After using it for a week in a 800sf space, it's working beautifully. I'm not looking forward to getting my Con Ed bill, but sweating isn't an option for us!

I live in north Texas and bought this new from a large membership retailer during an "out of season" clearance for $270. I bought it near the end of July and ran it non stop for the next two months to supplement the central A/C. My wife liked it as it did not block the entire window.

Normally in August my central A/C will run 20+ hours a day to try and keep my home at 76. With the portable a/c it was able to cycle off and on and only run non stop during the hottest hours of the day. Prior to this portable A/C the house would start to creep up on 80 with no hope of cooling down until well past sun down.

I will agree with some of the other reviews. The adjustable vent pipe is hard to manipulate and requires patience not to break. I used duct tape to help seal it to the machine. Still, even with this flaw - I love it. Also, I have never had to empty the water container on this item like other reviewers have said. This could be due to the central a/c drying the air, but I even took the cap loose before moving it to the garage over the winter and had no water inside.

For those wanting to compare theirs - when my house is at 78 degrees, the cool air exiting this unit is 48-50 degrees. After I unwrapped it from sitting in the garage I checked the temperature and it is the same, so I assume no coolant had leaked.

In conclusion, this unit paid for itself in the 2+ months that I ran it last summer. Even with it running it helped lower my electric bill and made my house much more comfortable to live in. I have just ordered a second unit (DeLonghi 11000 BTU this time) for a garage conversion, I hope it is everything that this one has been.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This arrived with several problems and Delonghi's way of managing the issue creates difficulties for customers. The first problem I had was that the hose, which has two plastic tabs to connect it to the machine, had one broken tab. To replace it, you have to order parts online after proving that you purchased it recently by submitting a receipt. Ordering a replacement hose seemed pointless since one of the two tabs on the back of the machine which the hose attaches to also was broken. To test the machine out, I had to duct tape it to the back.

When I got the hose securely attached, I had another problem with the machine that could not be solved with duct tape. This problem was with the machine's ability to cool a room. It alternated between blowing out rather hot and cool air. I thought this might relate to the way I rigged the hose, but a call to Delonghi's support in which I told them how I'd attached the hose made it clear that this was not the issue. They had no answer for my problem other than returning it to the manufacturer for repair or driving it to one of their few repair centers. While they offered to send a FedEx label and pay for shipping, the box that came with this literally falls apart when you open it. It comes in three separate pieces held together by plastic straps (also, my box had a big dent in the back where it was damaged during shipping so it wasn't exactly intact - though the dent didn't appear to reach the machine or any of its parts). I couldn't use the original box so the only way to ship it to DeLonghi for repair would be to buy a new box (DeLonghi won't provide one, I asked) for around $40 from a special packaging sales store. Also, DeLonghi only uses FedEx so, if a location isn't convenient for you, you're out of luck.

I'm using this to cool a much larger area than it should. I live in Palo Alto, so it doesn't get too hot here often, but we have days in the 90-100F range. I throw this on and it cools half my apartment during the day (with 12 ft high ceilings) and the entire place (1100 sq ft) at night when admittedly the temp drops. I'm not recommending that anyone else get it for a really big space, but I figure if it can do this well here, it has to be fantastic in the space it's designed for. It's not overly loud, but it's noisy and white noise. Doesn't bother me one bit and I work at home on the phone and I work about 15 feet from the unit without a problem. I don't know what I would do without this...oh yeah, sweat all night and be miserable.

This gift has made me very happy and I hope my review helps people decide. It is cumbersome, and rather big, but again not at all a problem for me.

EDIT to add 12/2011: Not using it in winter obviously, but still absolutely love this purchase. And don't hesitate to recommend for the a/c (still do not use the dehumidifier ever)
