4.0 out of 5 stars Good overall, minor issues
After extensively researching toaster ovens to replace my fried Cuisinart Classic (which I liked prior to its death), I ran across this one at a local retailer.

1.0 out of 5 stars BIG DISAPPOINTMENT
I owned a Delonghi before and it died of old age. I loved it and decided to get this one. 1. Description says it's red; it's black; 2. It only goes up to 390 degrees for baking; 3. The broiler pan doesn't sit on the rack; it has it's own slot. However, broiling time is greater than my last one; fat on steak never even sizzled. When you attempt to remove the...

1.0 out of 5 stars BIG DISAPPOINTMENT, August 8, 2008
This review is from: DeLonghi RO2058 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven with Rotisserie (Kitchen)
When you attempt to remove the broiling pan, as it isn't resting on anything, it tilts when you take it out and it could drop and injure someone, or if using a pot holder, it could catch fire; 4. I made toast and had to put it through twice and it burned part and the rest wasn't toasted. It is now being made in China and as with most things from there, it is very inferior. Too bad.

This review is from: DeLonghi RO2058 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven with Rotisserie (Kitchen)
After extensively researching toaster ovens to replace my fried Cuisinart Classic (which I liked prior to its death), I ran across this one at a local retailer.

The major difference between this model and all the others I looked at is build quality. Think simple, solid, italian...not creaky, flimsy and chinese. The dials switch through their functions with confidence, the door opens smoothly, fittings are metal (not plastic), and generally if it's well built on the outside, it's going to last on the inside.

It has a "convection" option which activates a tiny fan...who knows whether this is useful or not in such a small space. The auto-on-off oven light is a nice touch. It also does rotisserie, though I have no use for it.

My issues with it?
- Seemingly lower than average temperature (390 as opposed to 450 degrees F)
- Takes all three dials to activate the oven.
- Rack guides allow the tray to teeter/pivot if not fully in place
- Toast gets dried out (typical Delonghi) so if you like toast, buy a Dualit

But overall? Much better than most for the cooking I do, great value, reminds me of well built italian coffee makers from the '80s.

1.0 out of 5 stars DeLonghi RO2058 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven, May 3, 2009
This review is from: DeLonghi RO2058 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven with Rotisserie (Kitchen)
Caution: Safety Hazard!
While I liked all of the features of this oven it has a significant problem. The guides for the wire rack and bake pan are only at the front and back sides of the oven. Consequently, when you pull the rack out slightly it has a strong tendency to tip forward or backwards which would cause hot liquid to spill back into the oven or forward on the users hands. As much as I like this toaster oven for it's features it's being returned.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, October 30, 2008
This review is from: DeLonghi RO2058 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven with Rotisserie (Kitchen)
Impossible to clean interior and pan as finish comes right off with even light scrubbing. Interior scratched right away just from inserting oven rack. Doesn't have specific temps: you must estimate. Also, when using as toaster per instructions, easy to burn yourself reaching to get toast out of oven. The list of things I dislike about this oven go on. I cannot even imagine using it as a rotisserie! You'd never get it cleaned! And it is not inexpensive. Keep looking!

2.0 out of 5 stars Burned the daylights out of my hand, November 2, 2008
This review is from: DeLonghi RO2058 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven with Rotisserie (Kitchen)
Wanted a largish convection oven to assist for Thanksgiving. One of the extras for me was the rotisserie feature. I seasoned a 2.5 lb pork for my first rotis. experience with this beast and found that the spit did not continue turning consistently. It kind of got stuck/kept slipping out of gear. I branded my hand with the top heating element fiddling with the spit in the middle of my endeavor. I will now have a nice lifelong scar to show for this purchase. If I have time, I am going to return this piece of dreck to Macy's where I purchased it for $99.
If, as is often the case with me, this animal ends up with the various other useless or defective appliances I have accumulated and am too lazy to return, I will indulge in the pleasure of bringing it to the local dump on a day off and hurl it into the large metal compactor with extreme prejudice.

The toaster takes twice along as my last Convection Toaster Oven!

1.0 out of 5 stars one year later $100 down the drain !, October 22, 2009
This review is from: DeLonghi RO2058 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven with Rotisserie (Kitchen)
Originally purchased because of the rotisserie feature, I was initally pleased with this product.
Using the rotisserie feature was a "hassle"...you must get the chicken or whatever you want to cook fastened just so or it will turn unevenly and not cook uniformly. but despite that, I was still happy to have this function.
However, just as my warranty expired...it stopped working completely...one morning I decided to toast a few more slices of bread .....and complete silence ! I tried the usual "fixes" : unplugging from one outlet and plugging into another w/o any success.
Then I called customer service who basically told me "sorry" ! They recommended I find a local repair shop since DeLonghi's closest shop is in Harford, CT a mere 4 hour ride from my house ! So in closing...one year later, aprx $100 later..not worth it !

3.0 out of 5 stars Stay in the kitchen while baking, April 11, 2009
By
This review is from: DeLonghi RO2058 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven with Rotisserie (Kitchen)
On the positive side: it looks nice; it's large enough to cook a small pizza. Things I don't like about it include: making toast takes forever; in order to bake something for longer than 12-15 minutes, you have to keep turning the bottom (toast color)knob to keep the oven on. I have had better luck with smaller, less expensive toaster ovens.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stay Away from this Furnace!!, January 16, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DeLonghi RO2058 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven with Rotisserie (Kitchen)
This is a flimsy product that is made in China. The exterior gets extremely hot, and is a fire hazard. I am giving it two stars because of its multi-functionality, not because of how satisfied I am with the purchase.
Before you decide not to buy, I would like to share my two cents about the comments other reviewers made:
1) The oven does go to 450F, the last temperature listed on the knob is 390F, however, it does turn past it to "broil", which I assume is 450F.

I am returning this item back to Amazon!!

This review is from: DeLonghi RO2058 6-Slice Convection Toaster Oven with Rotisserie (Kitchen)
My last rotisserie toaster oven failed miserably compared to the DeLonghi. The rotisserie is neat and compact, there are several levels for racks within the oven, and it even makes toast. Toasting in these ovens takes additional time than a standard toaster, but DeLonghi's controls permit you to set the range of darkness, and it works. I'm looking forward to a long relationship with my new appliance.
