Amazon.com Review

When the weather outside turns frigid, stay warm and cozy indoors with the aid of this baseboard heater from Italian appliance specialist DeLonghi. The 120-volt heater spreads heat throughout a room in half the time needed by other baseboard heaters and works as a cost-effective alternative to a household heating system in small rooms. In particularly cold weather, the quiet heater complements a central heat system, bringing comforting heat to corners of high activity while the main system runs on low power for greater energy conservation.

DeLonghi constructed the baseboard heater in rustproof metal for even heat distribution and resilience. The heating element features an x-shaped design and does not glow. To turn on the heater, users avoid bending over with an ergonomic foot switch. Three power settings allow flexibility for diverse rooms and personal heating needs. For energy efficiency, the heater runs low at 600 watts or medium at 900 watts to slowly spread warmth. On high at 1500 watts, the unit brings full heat to a room with extra speed. Users select their ideal comfort temperature with an adjustable thermostat. After reaching this temperature, the heater continues to sense the room's current heat and reacts accordingly to maintain the comfort level. An antifreeze function engages should the indoor temperature fall below 44 degrees F, while the heater also automatically shuts off upon knock-over or overheating. The stable unit connects to outlets with its 3-foot power cord. DeLonghi advises against placing the heater outdoors or near flammables. Thorough safety guidelines and instructions are included. A limited 90-day warranty covers this item. The baseboard heater measures 47-1/4 by 4-1/3 by 10-1/2 inches and weighs 13 pounds upon shipping --Jessica Reuling

4.0 out of 5 stars Keeps me warm in the cold North East, October 11, 2002

This review is from: DeLonghi SafeHeat BBH100 Baseboard Heater (Kitchen)
Bought this heater towards the end of September'2002. So I have not owned it for a long time. I bought a high end ceramic heater before it and returned it promptly as the power cord was getting warm even after a 20-25 minute use. I bought this heater after that. I live in Northeast Canada where it is really chilly and cold. Tried out the heater and think this one fits the bill.

Pros
------
It has three power settings, 600 watts, 900 watts and 1500 watts. I placed it in a room which is about 13 square feet and had it going on the low setting of 600 watts. The room was nice and warm in 30 minutes. Remember this is the low setting, so that's pretty good performance.
It is quiet and will not disturb you when you're sleeping or resting.
It has foot mounted controls that are easy to use to control the wattage settings.
The power cord or plug was not warm to the touch after operating it for a good two hours.
It has a thermostat that does work. Once you get the temperature to a comfortable level, you have to turn the thermostat dial anti-clockwise till the lights go off on the heater. It will then maintain the room temperature automatically by coming on when needed.
It has a safety feature of shutting off if it's moved from side to side but I am not going to test that out for obvious reasons. It's good to know that they have the feature though. Most of the housing is cool to the touch when operating but this is a baseboard heater and the grill is going to get hot.

Cons
------
The big gripe about the product is the power cord. It's only three feet long and that is just not enough for ideal placement in a room. This is a baseboard heater, therefore placement is important as you want to avoid high traffic areas in the house. I think at a minimum it should have a seven foot cord.
It is quite long, about four feet, so it is not ideal for really small spaces.
Not recommended if you have small kids or toddlers in the house.

Bought this item recently and really like it. It does the job well and heated up my 12 by 13 room very effecintly on the low setting. The unit has three settings 600 (low), 900(medium) and 1500(high) watts. I was pleased to see it heat the room on the low setting in a half hour. It is quiet and that's important to me as I don't want to hear whirring or fan noise in the background like other heaters. The plug and power cord was even't the slightest bit warm after 3 hours. I think for the price it's built well. The adjustable thermostat does work but there is no way you can tell what the room temperature is by looking at the unit. My only gripe with this product is the 3 foot long power cord. That's way too small and needs to be 7 feet minimum to aid in ideal placement of the unit in a room.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DeLonghi SafeHeat BBH100 Baseboard Heater (Kitchen)
My husband is extremely cautious when it comes to these sorts of things, but I have a new basement office that needed a little extra heat for the New England winter, so we had to find something. I checked out soooo many types and brands and decided to give this baseboard type a try. It has been GREAT. It warms gently and quietly, does not get terribly hot to the touch and is a nice low profile for under my window. It is truly like adding a bit of baseboard heat where you want it. My husband is happy becuase it is quite stable and since it has a low, long profile there is not the issue of tipping over or being so tall that things will brush up against it. I'm glad I did my homework since this worked out quite well.
