Excellent Heater!,

This review is from: DeLonghi TCH7590ER 30-Inch Ceramic Tower Heater (Kitchen)
I recently ordered this heater, and was amazed by how efficient it is. The sleek design, near-silent running, and handy remote control are all real winners! The "beep" that people have mentioned when you change a setting on the heater is not really that big of a deal, to me; it's momentary and signals that the heater received your request - overall the beep is truly not that loud. This single heater keeps a ground-level, 300 sq. ft, spanish-tiled floor comfortably warm the whole day and night through. I highly recommend this heater!

Great ceramic heater,

This review is from: DeLonghi TCH7590ER 30-Inch Ceramic Tower Heater (Kitchen)
I was originally considering DeLonghi's DCH4590ER Ceramic Heater. Besides the different form factor, the two are almost identical (same wattages, same controls) except for one key difference. The TCH7590ER runs its fan at a lower speed when you run the heater on low power mode - much quieter than on high power mode. The DCH4590ER however always runs its fan at the same high speed (loud!), even in low power mode. This was a total deal breaker, and so I opted for the more more expensive TCH7590ER.So far I've been happy with the heater, it doesn't exactly what I expected it to do. Only 4 stars, for the following slight issues. 1) The fall over kill switch totally cuts the power. This is probably a design feature, but it means every time you move the heater (which also trips the kill switch) you have to redial in your preferences (namely temperature and power mode). 2) The fan is quiet on low power-mode, but not whisper quiet.

I'm not going to repeat what was said in the previous 3 reviews, but I will say that all of the reviews were very accurate. This unit is efficient and quiet. The confirmation beep is a bit loud as mentioned in another review, but not too bad. The heater puts out a good deal of heat. I put it to test in my garage. The garage is 24x24 with 10 feet ceilings, and lightly insulated. This unit probably wasn't meant to heat such a large area, but it still did a good job. On an evening where the temperature was 40F outside and the garage temp was 61F, after running the heater for one hour on the lowest setting, the garage heated up 6 degrees to 67F. I was able to sit in the garage enjoying a nice cigar without a coat on. We'll see how it performs during one of our bitter cold Chicago winters, but I expect it will be fine as long as I sit near the heater--which is how I plan to use it. I also plan to use it in my basement office. I'm sure it won't have any trouble warming that room (8x12). The unit is very quiet at it's lowest fan setting--you can hear it, but just barely. Running it on the high fan setting naturally generates more noise, but even at the high setting the fan noise is much less than a typical bathroom fan and very reasonable. The heater is built quite well and doesn't take up much space. I'm very pleased with this purchase--it was worth every penny.

Just like many people, I liked the reviews from many customers here. I want a heater with a 24-hour timer and this is the only brand I find. Most heaters only has a 4 or 8-hour timer. When the price dropped from $70 to $50, I ordered two with free shipping. A day later, a new review was posted with only 1 star. It made me worry for a few days. They arrived in one package with no issue at all. Spent about 20 minutes each to assemble the base of the fan. Tried both for a few days and here is what I found.... - Beeping is a little loud (may be good for elderly people). After opening the cover of this unit, the control panel is in an enclosed sealed casing so I can't open it to cover up the speaker. It means I can not adjust this fan while my wife is sleeping at night...... - The 24 hours timer is nice. I set up the time to warm up my room before we wake up early in the morning. And before we come home after a long day of work (more than 8 hours later). It increments in a 30-minute interval before the 10th hour, then increment by an hour after that. I wish it can increment 30 minutes all the way to 24 hour....... - While you are using the control panel on the unit, the oscillation motor pauses for you. That is nice! - It oscillates about 90 degree, I wish it can oscillates 0 to 360 degree with adjustable mechanical or electronic setting (like my water sprinkler for my yard, I can adjust it for any degree). If it can oscillate 360 degree, then I can put it in the middle of my room. - It generates a lot of heat and air for this size and for this price! If you expect it to warm up your whole room instantly, then you need a more powerful heater. But it does a very good job to warm up a well insulated room in reasonable amount of time, and much faster than my smaller heater. The air is very warm when my hands are in front of it. I am sure it is higher than 100'F (my digital thermometer max is 100'F only, so I can not tell you the actual max). - When you power off this unit or when it reaches the pre-set temperature, the fan speed increases for a few seconds and blow out the remaining heat. That is a nice feature, so the internal does not get too hot after the fan stops. - There are 2 fan speeds, it changes the amount of air flow. At low speed setting, it is very quiet! If my room is already warm up at high speed, I set it to lower speed. Or I can set it to auto. - The user manual said the timer can turn on the unit with same setting that you set before. It could be wrong. It does not resume the oscillation when it is auto on (tried both fans). Without oscillation, I can not evenly warm up my room in the morning and I hate to blow the air continuously to my face! So I need to find the right direction for it when I set this to auto on. I emailed their customer support and waiting for their reply... - The remote control is good size to hold, easy to use and has all functions. I wish there is a small compartment in the unit to hide this remote when it is not in use. For now, I hangs it on the side of the fan with double sided tape. - I also wish the timer is a real clock with internal battery so I program it by actual time. For now, I have to count how many hours from the time I sleep to the time I wake up. If I make mistake, I either has no heat or has too much heat! Anyone see a heater with a real clock in around this price range? I would like to know. I am pretty sure I can save enough in gas bill to pay for these fans this winter. Overall, this fan serves most of my purposes in this price range. I am keeping them until they break, or until I move to a warmer area. I give it 4.5 stars since this fan does not keep all the settings with auto on (as said in the manual).

I purchased two of these for the office I work in and they work nicely. They are very quiet when operating, the only thing is that there is a beep when you want to change a setting which cannot be turned off (I guess it is for safety purposes).Other than that, it works great, has an auto shut off/safety button below so if you are going to move and dont want to reset it, you have to slide it to its new location.

This heater is well worth the money!!! Heats my very large and drafty 30x10 living room without any problem. The options are great..allows you to pick hi or low fan setting, temperature, and oscillation. And comes with a remote, which I like when I use it in my bedroom...I can turn on/off the heater without having to get out of bed, such as when I wake up in the morning and it's chilly, I can turn on the heat without leaving the warmth of the covers! Great product and price!

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and I like it very much. The hum that some people have complained is actually not a big deal. Its much quieter than when my heater kicks in and to be honest the hum is not intrusive at all. I agree that the hum can be annoying at the 'high' setting, but it seems to work well in the medium setting so i never really use the high setting. It can warm up our medium sized bedroom in about 30-45 mts in medium setting. The timer function is very handy too. I definitely recommend this product. One negative - the beeps associated with changing settings are rather loud and there arent any options to control that. Having said that, its not that big of a deal. It also comes with a remote thats handy.

Our bathroom is very cold. I no longer dread stepping out of the shower. The heater is pretty quiet and easy to use. It warms the room very quickly. I like the safety features. If it were to tip over it shuts right down and has a wide, stable base.

This is a great item. Bought it for our son to use in his lower level, but used it first to heat the workshop. Does a great job. Takes up little space and puts out the heat.

I recently purchased this heater for my home and was quite surprised how good this product is. I chose this product after perusing the Amazon's best seller listing for heaters and reading the reviews. I chose this heater for the following reasons: DeLonghi's brand name, ceramic heater, quietness, and style. This heater does a decent job heating but don't expect wonders. This is a portable heater after all and not a boiler. It also has a oscillating feature to cover a wider range. The noise is near silent but is noticeable at night when there is absolutely no other noise around. We use it to heat our bed at night and the dining room during the day. The temperature sensor is pretty accurate; shuts off when it hits the desired temperature. The heater is also safe with kids. I have a 20 month son running around without any problems. The heater shuts off when it is tilted and the panel is not hot enough to cause any burns if touched briefly. The beep can be annoying whenever you make changes to the heater. This shouldn't be too much a problem unless you are so neurotic and are constantly changing the setting.Definitely recommend. |
