The heater works very well.

You can set the heater with the control panel but it's easier with the remote control.

Also, this is a fan, not silent.

First the packaging. While it's easy enough to open, beware of the styrofoam as you unpack, because a remote and six screws (phillips head) are semi-concealed within the white stuff. Once you do get everything opened, you'll discover that the multilingual manual does not exaggerate. You can put this together in five minutes. You'll probably spend more time looking for a phillips head screwdriver than anything else. Anyway, the base, in two sections, quickly snaps together, and then you attach the base to the unit with those screws and your finally found or repurchased phillips head screwdriver. (Those little plastic screwdrivers some manufacturers enclose would've been nice.)

Then you're pretty much set. Plug it in, start it up. The controls on the remote and the unit itself are identical (the remote comes with a lithium battery, which you'll have to unpeel to get it going). The manual explains the function of each control. To sum up, there are three speeds. I tested the machine on the highest speed and I can still hardly hear it, and there is an energy-saving eco button, which you'd be foolish not to use, and there is an oscillate option as well--and of course temperature controls. (The unit defaults to 75F.) It also has a timer and a setting that will turn it on automatically if the temperature drops to 45F.

My only slight complaint is that in DeLonghi's pursuit of the cool, the buttons on the unit are hard to read, and they're black on black. It took me a moment to realize that there are curved indentations next to the icons for power, speed, etc. Those are the buttons: at first it looks like a touch screen, but it's not. So maybe you'll want to place those little colored stickers on the buttons. But then, again, it's probably easier to use your remote.

not sure it's fair to rate it since i could have just been really unlucky and gotten a defective one, but the unit stopped working after two weeks as the heater would just shut off immediately and the light would start blinking green. nothing in the user manual described this particular issue (lame), but looking it up online, it seemed that the internal thermometer that measures room temperature was broken/defective/something wrong.

on the other hand, the unit is handsome and would look good in any room. however, this is the 2nd DeLonghi unit that I have owned with the first one breaking down after 1 year of use. not really willing to trust this brand anymore...

I love this heater. It does everything well. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the item came with a defective tip over switch and wouldn't even start. I could have returned it to Amazon but DeLonghi knew that there were bad tip over switches out there so I thought it was smarter to return the product to DeLonghi. Because the way that it's packed at the factory it would have been very hard to get all the parts back in the box easily so I was greatful that DeLonghi said to cut off the power cord and send it to them with I did. They sent me a new one in about 2 weeks. The new product works perfectly. It's very quiet, ocillates about 140 degrees, and has lots of options which come in handy.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I'm very happy with this space-heater overall (with a few exceptions, explained in a moment). I got it mainly for supplementary heat, not to run constantly. My wife uses it to warm the bathroom in the mornings; I will occasionally use it for an extra dose of heat in my office at night. Here are my thoughts about the product:

ASSEMBLY: The product description and manual claims assembly takes about 5 minutes, and this is pretty accurate. The screw that a few people have mentioned is actually optional, but I put it in for a little extra stability. All it takes is snapping a few pieces of the base to the main heater unit and it's ready to go.

CONTROLS: The control panel looks sleek, but I think it could be better. It's kind of hard to see the buttons because it's black-on-black. On top of that, one of the main buttons, the one to change the fan speed, is under "Mode," and that can take a bit to figure out. But overall it's pretty intuitive. I especially like the addition of a remote, which is actually easier to use. The + and - buttons adjust temperature, and this makes the unit automatically adjust it settings to reach the optimal temperature you have set. There are also "eco" settings for energy savings, a timer, and a button at the bottom to control oscillation.

HEATING POWER: I've had a lot of space heaters in my time. One year, I rented the basement in a house and it had no heat and poor insulation. I ran space heaters all the time. Let me tell you, I wish I had this unit back then! It warms up very fast and cranks out a surprising amount of heat. With the fan setting on high, it's actually amazingly good at warming a decent sized room. 5 stars on heat.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
When it gets cold up here in the northeast, it can get "cold." And we are always on the lookout for space heaters that can help keep our heating costs down. Based on the claims of this heater, it was a no brainer.

Unboxing is simple enough - just be sure you know that some smaller pieces are stowed inside the styrofoam. Once you get it all out, you just have to snap and screw the base to the tower, remove a piece of plastic from the remote battery, and you're ready to warm up - or cool off a bit if you just want to use the fan feature.

The unit is a bit over 2 feet tall, not very wide, but packs plenty of power. It's blower is pretty strong, and warms up our large rooms in no time. It's thermostat triggers it on and off to keep the temperature steady. It has lots of safety and automation features - auto shut-off if it tips over or gets too hot, auto on if the temp drops too low, an eco option to adjust the unit's power depending on the temperature desired, etc. I can't speak to whether the eco option really saves on our bill, but it seems to manage the fan speed and such well, so I can only hope.

The unit is pretty quiet. If you use the boost feature, the blower can be noisy, but overall I am pleased with this unit for any room - including the bedroom. The remote is great to have for easy adjustment, and the timer feature is wonderful. I also appreciate the digital display which makes seeing the setting from afar, rather simple. One thing I don't really like is that the oscillation feature turns off every time the unit is turned off. So you have to turn it back on if you want it. Not a big deal, but I'd rather it remember that it was on. It seems to remember all the other settings.

All in all, we really like this heater. It's stylish, not noisy, and provides plenty of air flow and heat. Not much more I can ask for.
