Great Little Oven,
By Sheltonite "Sheltonite" (CT United States) - See all my reviews There are only two minor observations to keep it from five stars. 400 degrees, the max, is not high enough for a crispy baked potato and the controls have diagonal arrows showing what function is selected. Even after 20 years in Toaster ovens I set mine wrong, line them up. The curved glass is a nice touch. A good gift for an older person as it will shut off with a timer.

Don't worry about the beeps--really!,
I just bought this today after reading scores of reveiws. Many of them were positive, but a lot of them were peppered with complaints about the beeping noises that the buttons on this unit makes. So I was wary. But it's not even an issue, as it turns out, and I am very happy with this toaster oven. Let's clear the air though. Yes, it does beep. Anytime you press a button, you will hear the electronic beep. It is very similar to the tone used for Microwave ovens, which I know can be annoying, but I personally don't find myself standing in front of the Microwave pushing buttons all day. I am assuming most people don't. Is the beeping really quiet? Not really--what would the point be if it were barely audible? Is it ear-shatteringly loud? Not by a long shot.
Other people had issues with this being a complicated toaster. If you are used to a very straightforward toaster that you push a lever down and your favorite setting is all ready to go, then, yes, you'll have to learn this. Do you need to be a computer expert to do it? No. We had a digital toaster, so I was already used to having to choose my toast setting every time I plugged in the toaster. But in any case, this is not hard. The Toast cycle is the first one programmed in the Mode menu. So all you do is put your bread in the toaster, press the Mode button one time (yes, you'll hear a beep) and press the up or down arrow on the Toast Selector to choose your shade of toasting. It is preset at 4 (out of 6) so if that works for you, you're done. If not, the arrows will adjust the setting (again, you will hear a quick beep for each push of the button). Then you press the start button. The timer actually counts down the time remaining, which is nice, and then it's all done. There is beeping to let you know when it's done, but if you really hate that, you could turn the unit off just before the timer goes off. Again, I am personally not offended by the sound. I didn't find it to be very difficult for the toasting cycle--but again, I did have a digital so this was par for the course for us. Another note is the toasting time. I make our bread so the slices are usually pretty thick and pretty uneven given my lack of finesse with a bread knife, so we are used to toasting each piece a few times to get it just right. The DeLonghi, I thought, did a GREAT job--even on a VERY thick piece of bread. It came out even and nicely browned in about 4 minutes. As I said, it could take several cycles with our older toaster, so I am very pleased with this idea of toast it once and be happy. I haven't tried baking or broiling yet, but I am hopeful those cycles will work well too. As always, I will keep my reciept, just in case, but I am very happy with the appearance and sturdiness of this one. I also LOVE that it's not huge, like some of the other toaster ovens out there. I didn't want one that was bulky or heavy, and this one is perfect for our needs. I would recommend it.

This toaster oven cooks toast evenly and works well as a small oven. This is far superior to others we've had. The timer provides assurance that it won't be inadvertently left on to cause a fire.
