Product Description

Amazon.com Review

For the whole family, a countertop toaster oven is indispensable. This handsome, compact unit (16-1/2 inches wide, including handles, by 9 inches high by 11 inches deep) toasts six slices of bread for breakfast, broils Junior's burger and Dad's steak, toasts Sis's sandwich, bakes Mom's cake and meat loaf, and heats frozen pizzas while everyone watches television. Inside it's enameled porcelain for even heating. Included is a wire rack that slides into two positions and holds a baking-broiling pan, which comes with a broiling rack, and a thermostat dials up temperatures from "keep warm" to 470 degrees to "toast." Another dial controls toasting from "light" to "dark, " and a third dial, with "broil" or "bake/toast" settings, turns on top and bottom heating elements. Wire rack, pan, and the broiling rack go in the dishwasher, while the interior, exterior, and glass door wipe clean with soapy water. An instruction booklet tells all. --Fred Brack

1.0 out of 5 stars Go elsewhere, March 23, 2002

I should have read customer reviews. I bought this as a replacement for my old DeLonghi which died after several-times-daily use for 14 yrs. After about two weeks, the toaster timer on my new one started sticking--dangerous! My original model had a nice enamel pan and rack; this one has the chintziest aluminum pan I've ever seen. Cleaning design is ridiculous. DeLonghi seems to have really gone downhill.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Product - Listen to Amazon Reviewers, February 28, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: DeLonghi XU625B Alfredo Ultima 6-Slice Toaster Oven, Black (Kitchen)
I should have listened. But I've had excellent DeLonghi toaster ovens for more than 12 years. The current model is terrible (the company says 625s and 650s are the same).

It toasts unevenly - you can see that the top elements are hotter than the bottom ones. The crumb tray design is klutzy (turn the whole thing over and release a catch). The 625, while it looks like our old XU-22, is about 2 pounds lighter - that tells you a lot.

Then I looked at the workmanship - screws were loose, the back metal panel was bowed out slightly.

What to do? A new timer [costs money] - I'll install it in my old one myself (why not?). Maybe in a few years they will get themselves back together. Next time I'll listen to Amazon's reviewers...

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor design, September 5, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: DeLonghi XU625B Alfredo Ultima 6-Slice Toaster Oven, Black (Kitchen)
The dial for the timer on our first unit broke within 1 day, so we had to take it back. About 3 months later, the timer on the second unit broke for good, so that the unit never turns off and runs continuously - dangerous, in my opinion. Also, it does not toast evenly (the bottom is toasted darker than the top), and the temperature setting is not accurate - we routinely set it 25-50 degrees below normal to keep from overcooking food. Overall, cheaper units perform much better. On the upside, it has a larger capacity than most others.
