I have used CAIG DeOxit contact cleaner for about 10 years and haven't met anything better. It really works and its effect lasts very long! It removes oxidation on silver-plated and other electrical contacts and leaves a thin film of lubrication on them.

Be warned when you order this can; even though it is advertised as 10.4 ounces it's only a standard smallish 5 oz. (142g.) can. :(

I carry a can with me on Big Screen TV service calls. I have used this product for many years and can tell you it is the best. Don't waste your time with other cleaners, just buy this and remember to follow the instructions, especially wiping off the excess. It doesn't take a lot to do the job so use it sparingly and it will work for you.

A professional quality product that lives up to the hype & easily justifies its relatively high cost. Used by electronics repair & pro audio technicians that need an effective, long lasting cleaner & conditioner for any kind of metallic, current-carrying contacts. Particularly effective for low current and/or low voltage applications. Don't use it for cleaning "pots" (potentiometers) or faders & be careful not to squirt it on plastics, including plastic parts of switches. If possible, apply directly to the metal parts where they contact each other & "exercise" the connection to work it into them.

Don't use too much -- you probably won't ever need to use anything besides the lowest spray rate setting on the nozzle.

Based on recommendation on the web I used this contact cleaner on the glow plug harness of my 1998 deisel VW TDI Jetta. This car had throw a check engine light for more than 4 years, diagnostics said glow plug circuit. No amount of messing with it or changing glow plugs resolved it (at 100,000 I figured they needed it anyway).

All I did was remove the harness and spray each boot connection and swab it out with a Q-tip. Two years later I have yet to see the check engine light return.

From what I can see, this product cleans the electrical contacts AND leaves behind some sort of dielectric oil or grease.

This is the best contact cleaner I have ever used. I use it on all types of electronics, even works on some computer cable connections. I highly recommend this product.

I have a vintage preamplifier. One of the channels was coming and going. Brought the unit to a audio repair guy in Culver City recommended by the OEM. After sucking my wallet dry ($260) for cleaning the contacts and applying some magic stuff to the pins of the vacuum tubes, nothing changed. The guy told me the problem must be somewhere else, not the preamp.... He did not even pick up the phone when I called the second time.

Getting desperate, I looked around in the web and found another audio repair person in San Diego raved by a lot of folks. Drove 100 miles there this morning. In 10 minutes, he figured out it was just corroded and dirty contacts. He Squirted some deoxIt in the contacts, worked them a little, and sent me home. (Note: he told me to send him a check for one hour worth of labor in a week if I like the results. Damn, he does not even know me!)

The result? Man, the unit had been acting up for so long that I forgot how delicious it sounds. I'm going to send the guy a check + couple cans of the deoxIt from Amazon as a thank you.

When the contacts in electronic components get dirty they stop working correctly. I had retired a beloved stereo receiver/amplifier because one output would come and go. Recently I read good things about the CAIG DeOxit products and decided to give them a try. My results were positive. My amp is working well once again. I used it on all the switches, pots and connectors.

Was first time purchasing CAIG DeOxit. Used it on an armature from a Kirby vacuum motor - worked great - cleaned the commutator and rotor windings very well. Will be putting it to work on some old stereo components to help get rid of the noise created by dirty controls. Great product.

I have to agree with all the other 5-star reviews. I've been using DeOxit for over 10 years now, and continue to find new uses for it. I started out using it to clean volume knobs and pots on my guitar amps and guitar components. It noticably cleans and protects everything I've used it on. Nowadays, I use it for smaller projects around the house. Every new cable in the signal path of my home theater system gets cleaned . Every input and output on the backs of my TV's, receivers, and DVD's/Game Consoles get wiped down. You'd be surprised at how dirty the cables are that came with your cable tv converter. I use it on speaker wire, speaker contacts, automobile electronics, guitar strings, etc. Like someone else said, it work's great on batteries. If you're ever stuck without fresh batteries for an old flashlight, you can get a much brighter light beam just from cleaning the old batteries and the flashlight contacts. It's easy to do a wipedown with a simple cotton swab or paper towel. Try this stuff and you won't regret it!

After doing audio for over 30 years plus I have plenty of vintage gear and Reel to Reels especially find the Deoxit off my shelf and on my work station more than I can count. Dirty switches and potentiometers don't stand a chance with this terrific formula. My old Teac and Tascam and from before the Otari, and Technics Reel to Reels have sticking and gummy dirty everything, and the Deoxit is able to muscle through all those stuck tape lift mechanisms,switches,pots and more. I use Deoxit as a preventative measure to keep the switches and Pots working right and absolutely quiet in the signal path.

I use the low flow rate on the adjustable nozzle. I go through Deoxit fairly rapidly and have not noticed the propellant going before my can is empty. Good to know I guess. Pro Gold another wonderful Caig Industries product works great with Deoxit too. Use the Deoxit to clean and the Pro Gold to preserve the workings of those switches and Pots etc.

Every tech or hobbyist should have a can or two of this stuff.
