I can only wish that drum sets of this quality had been available when I was learning to play. It is not a toy; it is a real drum set, just smaller and limited to a bass, snare, high tom, and one cymbal, plus a stool. It's heads are real and tunable. The sound is quite good. Someone starting on this around age 5 and taking lessons could either add a piece in a year or two, or move to a bigger set around age 9. But for it's purpose, it's an excellent product.

We purchased this product with standard shipping and it showed up at my door 3 days later. I was really nervous when I saw the bag with a lot of little pieces. Once we started putting it together, it was REALLY easy. We bought it for my son's 2nd birthday and he LOVES it. The quality is spectacular for the price; well worth it.

Ordered the DRM 316 drumset from Austin Bazaar. Received a DRM 312 drumset ($30 cheaper, for younger children) which didn't even have the right parts in the box needed to assemble it and the instructions provided were a faint photocopy of a one-page, basically useless document. Tried to call Austin Bazaar using the phone number they put on their shipping label, but the number is out of service. Amazon has no record of an address for Austin Bazaar that customers can use to return items. Amazon is now helping me return the item and will be refunding my money.

So, wouldn't have been happy with the DRM 312 drumset, even if that is what I had ordered. Would have had to get replacement parts in order to assemble it. The instructions were a waste of the paper they were copied on.

And, wouldn't recommend anyone buying anything from Austin Bazaar. Any company that sends you an inferior and/or different product than what you ordered, provides a contact phone number that's out of service, and doesn't provide an address customers can use to return orders is either very poorly run or a total rip-off or both. Stay away.

I purchased this drumset for my 5 year old son. It arrived promptly. It took my husband less than 30 minutes to assemble. The sound is of a real drum set. It looks beautiful.

I bought this drum set for my 4 year old daughter for Christmas 2009. This was a wonderful purchase. This is the one toy that I can say she truly plays with everyday and her daddy too. It is very realistic, has wonderful sound quality, and good stablity. At first, I was looking at a less expensive set at Toys R Us, but am very glad that my husband suggested this set for a few dollars more. We are all very pleased with the drum and would recommend this to any family with children that love music. Also has easy assembly, my husband was able to assemble the set without any instructions, and it was put together correctly.

I purchased this Bridgecraft Drum Set in Silver Sparkle for my 2-year-old son for Christmas. I work for one of the largest musical instrument manufacturing companies in the world and wasn't sure what to expect when ordering such an inexpensive drum kit. I was a bit concerned when the kit arrived in just one seemingly small cardboard box; however, this little drum kit ROCKS! The finish looks fantastic, the hardware (except for the kick drum pedal) was decent quality, the assembly was easy, and I was actually able to tune them up! Downsides: The kick drum pedal is a bit dodgy (not the same quality as the rest if the drums) and there was some minor rust on some of the hardware (cleaned up nicely with some WD40).

Well Went to put this together " at the last minute" like I usually do, open the box take out the drum set all the packing, look through all the bags and boxes, but know instructions? Luckily I'm very Eco friendly and actually try to save trees when possible. Anyway all I had to do was a google search to find the instructions and bing bang boom it was put together. My son loves the drums and great quality for the price. Still gave it five stars even though no instructions.

This drum set is perfect for a youngster. Assembly instructions are easy to follow and the set is very durable. It was delivered promptly with only a very slight tear on the stool top. When I informed the company of this, they responded with immediate delivery of its replacement. Considering the fine quality of this product and the eagerness of the company to please its clientele, I will definitely be a returning customer.

Unfortunately we got this ON my son's birthday (our fault on the delay, not Amazon's) so we were very disappointed to open the package to find dented cymbal, puckered bass and a hole in the seat. It would seem (because all of these items were packaged along the bottom or sides of the box with no real padding) that these issues were a result of poor packaging, not poor workmanship. However, because it was sold to us through another seller, not Amazon itself we are having to return the entire item and repurchase with fingers crossed. Haven't decided whether we will reorder the same one or try for a step larger. Our son just turned 5 and is on the small side (just now fitting into his 4T clothes) and he needed the stool at the highest setting. Doesn't seem like this would last very long just due to size. Great for his 2-year-old little brother, though! The sound quality is good - we aren't drummers, so this is by far an amateur opinion. Of course, he wanted more drums to it (like Justin Bieber), but it is plenty for a beginner to attempt to master before adding on or replacing. Wanted to give it 3.5 stars, but that is mostly due to damage and size, not quality.

My son is 19 months and already an avid drummer (his jazz drummer grandpa has been drumming with him since we was a few months old). We decided to get a set for him and the DeRosa set is perfect! It's a great size that will grow with him for a few years. Has replaceable heads if he cracks one. It's actual wood sides with regular adjustment screws like adult drum sets. It was easy to set up (although, I recommend putting it together without the assistance of an eager toddler! haha). And has pretty good sound. (the snare can be a little rattley and vibrates when you hit the tom-tom but I expected a bit of that anyhow).

Overall he loves it so far!
