5.0 out of 5 stars Great Boot, September 12, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am a contractor currently working in Iraq and have been wearing the Desert style Jungle Boots issued by the military. Switching to the DeWALT Plunge II with Steel Toe was probably the best decision I have made in a long time. There is a lot of gravel here and, compared to the combat boots, walking in it in these is much easier on the feet.

PROS:
Wide sole & Stiff Upper (helps avoid rolling your ankles)
Steel toe
Fashionable (imo) appearance

CONS:
Laces fray quickly (near eyelets)
Rather uncomfortable "break-in" period (Super comfy afterward)

The color does not match the pictures on Amazon too closely. The boots are actually quite a bit lighter. They also seem to stain and/or get "nicked" rather easy, but then again they ARE work boots and damage is to be expected.

Overall I WOULD recommend others buy this pair of boots. I would be willing to buy them again in the future. But, I would suggest buying alternate laces though.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST CONSTRUCTION SHOE, October 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These are the best shoes i have ever owned. A cheap pair of steal toes only last me a month tops, before i wear the sole flat, or steal toe falls out. I can get at least a year out of these shoes. Ive gone thru two pairs already but that was because i was crawling under homes a lot and wore the toe out, then the steal toe fell out. I have not yet worn out the bottom. Usually they stay some what water proof for about a month and then i wear a hole in them somewhere.

I have tried the die hard shoes from sears and they are no where near as comfortable as these. As the owner, i have to put in 14hr days and these are the only shoes i can be on my feet for that long, then be able to do it again the next day. Dewalt makes some tough tools and these are no exception.

I really wish they didn't discontinue them. I ordered 3 pairs and i'm on my last set and really kinda bummed. I don't know what i will do when these ones go, i know they have other shoes but nothing in tan. I don't know if my customers would recognize me in anything but these shoes.
