Terrific stand-alone music with a great '40's feel!,

This soundtrack was so beautiful it was used in promos of several other films made afterwards. Patrick Doyle uses strings and brass to recreate the feel of a romantic thriller from the '40's. And like most film music of that period, it feels timeless. The theme music for Roman and Margaret's love is lilting and lovely, while the melodramatic music underscoring the murder and suspense is energizing and terrifying. Wonderful score to play again and again!

A CLASSIC SCORE,

Patrick Doyle begun his career with the amazing soundtrack for Henry V. But I think that Dead Again is his best work. Not only he, again, has created beautiful melodies, like It never rains in L.A. But his orchestrations are magnificent. It reminds you the best Hermann, but with the strength that is always in Doyle's music. A keeper. You will enjoy either you have seen the movie or not.

Brilliant!,

Doyle's score for Branaugh's film is, simply, brilliant! I missed the film in theaters and bought a DVD of the film after hearing his score. It is compelling -- in a way that reminds me of how Herrmann could bring you inside, to the heart of a film. The film itself is a contemporary mystery laden with character and plot development that keeps you at the edge of your seat, beautifully crafted, acted and directed. It is a gem of a film and this, this is a gem of a score!
Most highly recommended.

A Brilliant Follow-Up To A Masterful Debut.,

After the enormous success of his directorial debut "Henry V," Kenneth Branagh's next film was a suspense thriller a la Hitchcock's "Dial M For Murder," and again he and composer Patrick Doyle struck gold, as they have done ever since (the one exception being the mediocre "Sleuth"-please see my review on that film & the soundtrack). The music matches each scene in the film perfectly. Kenneth Branagh did an excellent job, directing & starring in a finely crafted suspense-drama that would make The Master Of Suspense, Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock, proud as a daddy. The score never fails to move you, and there are several surprises in store. The theatrical trailer for the movie is also very well done, and will leave you satisfied. The movie is well-written, full of suspense and danger at every turn. In a strange world, where you can't remember who you are, the one person you feel you can trust...may just be your worst nightmare. "I loved my wife...forever." "Of course, forever. But you still killed her, didn't you?" A crime from the past has obsessed her. A stranger. "I'm Mike Church." "That was Roman Strauss. That was his wife Margaret. He stabbed her in the throat with a lovely pair of barber scissors." The more she trusts him, the more she fears him..."This is exactly what happened between Roman and Margaret." "I'm not Roman." To be the man who ended her life...more than 40 years ago. "I'M NOT ROMAN." "What exactly is it between you and Mr. Baker?!" "I could be a good friend, Margaret." "How am I suppossed to keep him away? I mean, he really wants to see me." "You burn someone in one life, they get a chance to burn you back in this one." "If fate works at all, it works because people think that this time, it isn't going to happen." "This is all...far from over."
