Dead & Alive is a simple short and pleasant read written in the same style as British authors James Pattinson and Christopher Nicole. Set in the early post World War II era ex navy officer David Cunningham is struggling to come to terms with civilian life when luck brings him upon the wreck of a landing vessel on the Cornish coast. Instantly he can see his new purpose in life and is surprised but pleased to find another with the same dreams named Stuart McCrae living inside the wreck who informs David that he has bought the boat but will make him his business partner if David can get it off the cliff intact. Their success makes the English media and they are sent many letters from would be adventurers wanting to join them in their future trading voyages to Italy. David keeps them all and is surprised to find a desperate plea from a mother with an accompanying photograph to find information on her long lost daughter Monique. David is moved by the letter and decides there is no harm in trying. He couldn't be more wrong!
