At first glance into the list of artists performing on this movie soundtrack, one gets the impression of another attempt to swindle fans of big name acts such as Marilyn Manson and Blur into buying a less than average disc. There in lays the surprise. With the eception of standard fair results from Creed, and the chemical brothers, the listener is thrown off gaurd by artsy tunes which show off the experimental sides of bands such as Blur, Elastica, M. Manson, and others. Fans of Self, Goldfinger, and Supergrass won't be disappointed as well. "We still need more (than anyone can give)" by the latter of the three is clearly the best track on the disc, with the brit-pop trio serving it up as they always do, with a bouncing rythym and complementary free and easy vocals. The reason why this disc isn't a must buy can be seen in dead weight songs such as the propellerheads remix of Soul Coughing's "Super Bon Bon". While I am a fan of both of these artists, it didn't quite gel into a better song than the original. Better luck next time guys. In either case, this disc is definitely worth a listen.

I was really only looking for one song, and was having trouble tracking it down online (legally). So I turned to the movie credits and found the only place available was on the original soundtrack. If you're looking for a great soundtrack filled with mid-to-late nineties music - this is the album for you. Heavily influenced by grunge and arena rock, the Dust Brothers add their electric rock instrumentation and beat-based skills with bands that aren't too demanding in the vocal harmonies or masterful instrumentation department.

I had an urge to buy something on impulse, so I went to the soundtrack section, in search of the best one I could find. I finally settled on this. It's probably the best soundtrack I have ever heard. All of the songs sound really cool and weird at the same time. I don't think Brian did a really horrible job with "Golden Years." There is just something about this song which makes it one of favorites by David or Brian. The Blur song is neat and reminds me of "Mellow Song" from "13." Both of them use this really strange instrument. Listen to both songs back to back and you'll see what I mean. It's easy to see why Elastica follows. This is probably when Damon and Justine were still together. That break-up was the basis for "13." I was expecting some lame acoustic song from Creed, however, they actually decided to go electric this time. The rest is cool too. The whole disc maintains this strange mood which all these different bands I truly love sort of adapt to. Some bands put out some of their best stuff yet. The other bands I had heard of before I bought this were on tracks 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11.
