4.0 out of 5 stars Good "doctor", great book, solid info
This book has a vast collection of very important health information. Wallach is a guru himself somewhat, but definately incorporated others' views into his book. Such as Linus Pauling's Vitamin C bowel tolerance doses, etc. The information part of the book is great. I refer to it often to give people advice. It's a wonderful reference book. Unfortunately, 7/8 of...

3.0 out of 5 stars Money-hungry Wallach know his stuff... BUT
Dr. Joel Wallach certainly knows his stuff. He knows the importance of minerals in diet, knows which foods to eat, and has studied long-living cultures and received his information from others who have done extensive research. What I do not like about this book is the fact the entire book is basically Wallach preaching about his supplements and his involvement in...

Unfortunately, 7/8 of the book is an autobiography of Wallach himself. Not a bad read, but I was a little bummed to see that much of the book was not health-related. The most solid points that Wallach drills into our heads are mineral supplementation, and paying attention to food allergies. It's amazing how quickly your health can turn around when you stop eating allergenic foods. All in all, great info. I would give 5 stars if it weren't for the long bio.

4.0 out of 5 stars Who is Dr. Joel Wallach?, February 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Dead Doctors Don't Lie (Hardcover)
I was reading a few of the damning reviews given on this title and thought I would share some info too.

The following I found regarding what qualifications Dr. Wallach holds and also regarding his findings:

"Dr. Wallach has been involved in biomedical research and clinical medicine for 30 years. He received his B.S. Degree from the University of Missouri with a major in animal husbandry (nutrition) and field crops; a D.V.M. (veterinarian) from the University of Missouri; a three year post doctoral fellowship from the Center for the Biology of Natural Systems, Washington University; and an N.D. from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, Portland, Oregon.

Dr. Wallach's research has resulted in the publication of more than 70 peer review reference articles in the field of nutrition and pharmaceutical research; co-authored 8 textbooks and is the author of a text/reference book on the subject of comparative medicine (W.B. Saunders Publishing Co., 1983). Dr. Wallach's research in comparative medicine is based on more than 13,700 cases from the University of Missouri, Iowa State University, the Center for the Biology of Natural Systems, Washington University; the St. Louis Zoological Gardens; the Chicago Zoological Gardens; the Yerkes Regional Primate Research Center, Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia; the Nation College of Naturopathic Medicine, Portland, Oregon and Harbin Medical University, Harbin, Hei Long Jiang, Peoples Republic of China. He was a member of NIH site visit teams for four years and was a member of the 1968 NSF ad hoc committee that authored the 1968 Animal Welfare Act (humane housing and care of laboratory and captive exotic species); and Consulting Professor of Medicine, Harbin Medical University, Harbin, Hei Long Jiang, Peoples Republic of China."

I see too many people being mislead by the medical community. They are most likely the real quacks. There has been a role reversal over the last few centuries. There was a time when Medical Doctors that we today consult for answers were considered the quacks and charletons and home remedies with attainable herbs were used. Well now many years later natural remedies are considered by many to be the advice of quacks and charletons. Medical Doctors often give a quick fix that shows results quickly and therefor they are bowed down to as gods for providing such results... but what the long term effects of such quick results are is left to be seen yrs later and another quick fix provided. Where as natural remedies combined with a healthy diet and activity take patience and time to reap results. But the same attitude in wanting a quick fix is what has cause many health problems... impatience 'I want it now' ... McDonalds and the like provide it now... It takes time for optimum health to diminish so it will take time to fix the problems. The best advice I would give anyone regarding health is 'treat the cause not the symptom'. Have you ever thought of why herbs and natural remedies have been so taboo over the years. Do you remember the witch hunts of years ago. Well witches supposedly used herbs in conjunction with spells. It may well be morally wrong from a Christian point of view to use the spells and so forth but does that make it wrong to use herbs(which all plants are considered herbs)to provide healing? These minerals Dr. Wallach is ndorsing are complete plant derived minerals which means they come from humic shale plant matter from eons ago. Here's what is said of this Majestic Earth Minerals

"Each quart of Majestic Earth plant derived colloidal mineral solution contains up to 77 minerals in unaltered organically bound colloidal form. These minerals are produced from prehistoric plant material known as "humic shale" which comes from Southeastern Utah. Humic shale is pulverized and placed in large food grade vats and submerged in purified cool water and allowed to leach naturally and undisturbed for many weeks. During this period the plant derived minerals blend with the water to form an organic colloidal concentrate Dr Wallach affectionately calls Majestic Earth ."

If you can find colloidal minerals which can make the same claims then use those...

I hope these thoughts will give someone a little more insight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Advice, Great Story, Must read!, May 8, 2000
This review is from: Dead Doctors Don't Lie (Hardcover)
I have heard Doctor Wallach's DeadDoctorsDontLie tape, DeadDoctorsDontLie radio show and loved what he had to say but always left with doubts and questions. This book answers ALL the questions. Doctor Wallach's stories are amazing! And his medical advice is so desperately needed by so many. The book is the best and least expensive second opinion you can get. I would reccomend this book to anyone. The book is primarily about vitamins and minerals and which ones will help which diseases. It is amazing to discover how many diseases are actually vitamin and mineral defiencies! After trying some advice in the book and using some of DeadDoctorsDontLie advice and products my gray hair went away! I know it seems impossible, it talks about it in the book and I didn't believe it until it happened to me. It was amazing!

4.0 out of 5 stars For every household!, August 28, 2001
This review is from: Dead Doctors Don't Lie (Hardcover)
In a world where "the doctor knows best", this is one of those books which make us shout "AT LAST!"...getting back to the nitty-gritty of health and what's required by the human body to not only survive, but thrive. Dr Wallach has explained in clear, concise and often humourous words what everyone should know: We need minerals to become and remain healthy. The two authors have listed the minerals, what each one is responsible for, and how much to take. Not only is this an excellent reference book, but it is entertaining as well. I truly believe that a copy of this book should be in every household - I'm about to buy my second copy to lend to friends and family, as I simply won't let my own copy go!

Doctor Joel Wallach: Doctor. Doctor? Yes, Doctor. Joel Wallach is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and in his book, Dead Doctors Don't Lie, he gives sound practical dietary and health advice in a no-nonsense, straight-forward way that has personally impacted and saved my life.

If you suffer from arthritis, obesity, diabetes, hypoglycemia, or any number of modern day ailments, I urge you to just give this book a read. If you don't wish to read it or are unable to devote the time to reading due to time constraints, too many obligations, etc., try the audio version. You will be so amazed, you'll wonder why no one hasn't made this required reading in all allied health curriculums.

Who knows? You may find yourself healed as well: much to the chagrin of the beneficiaries of your health insurance payments.

Dr. Joel Wallach certainly knows his stuff. He knows the importance of minerals in diet, knows which foods to eat, and has studied long-living cultures and received his information from others who have done extensive research. What I do not like about this book is the fact the entire book is basically Wallach preaching about his supplements and his involvement in different supplement companies. His colloidal minerals are a very good, important supplement but some of his recommendations are strictly because his company happens to carry that certain product. All in all, it's a great book for someone with poor eating habits, and is in poor health. For the educated ones, you can find better material on the internet these days.. or in Robert Barefoots book "The Calcium Factor", which is the best book I have ever read in my life.

This review is from: Dead Doctors Don't Lie (Hardcover)
11/28/1999 "LIVE LONG AND PROSPER" This book was the first electronic buying that I've ever done. That is because I am cautious. I couldn't find this book at any book store or the library in Tulsa, Oklahoma U.S.A. I discovered that was because it was released the first of this year. Amazon.com had it on order and so I added myself to their list. The book is written in layperson's terms by an author that I now owe my life to. I finally understood the how-to's. . . . Buy Immediately, I researched this one! Rev. Dr. J. Jefferson
