3.0 out of 5 stars Welcome to Vamoose, OK, September 3, 2006

This review is from: Dead In The Driver's Seat: An Amanda Hazard Mystery (Amanda Hazard Mysteries) (Paperback)
Amanda Hazard, CPA, and Nick Thorn, police chief, are engaged again with Velma, the beautician from hell, and her niece Beverly Hill planning the wedding. Giving Amanda the chance to solve the mystery of the death of Frank Lemon, used car dealer. Thorn is accused of causing the death of the shady Lemon and has been relieved of his duties as chief. Amanda is going to clear his name before the wedding. A funny, delightful story that reads quickly and is satisfying.

1.0 out of 5 stars If you can't say something nice..., July 19, 1998
This review is from: Dead In The Driver's Seat: An Amanda Hazard Mystery (Amanda Hazard Mysteries) (Paperback)
This book was very disappointing. Thorn is put on probation at the beginning of the book for taking Hazard along in pursuit of her stolen car. Thorn then, completely out of character, gets back together with Hazard by asking her to tap into all of her investigative "skills" to clear his name and get his job back. The rest of the book follows Hazard around as she tries to get information--where Thorn is during all this is a mystery in itself. He doesn't seem to be at all concerned with clearing his name himself. Add a couple more disasters at the beauty salon that are beyond being remotely believable and stilted dialogue in which other characters refer to "the Dead in the Mud Case" and you've got the idea. I only finished it because I wanted to see if it would keep getting worse. I will save you the trouble--it did.

4.0 out of 5 stars I love this book, August 28, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Dead In The Driver's Seat: An Amanda Hazard Mystery (Amanda Hazard Mysteries) (Paperback)
Ms.Feddersen did a great job in this book. Making these characters still fresh and interesting through her series. I loved that Thorn used Amanda invesigative skills. A logical conclusion since she has solve a few other murders. The decision of his to make this change and recognize her worth is endearing. A man that allows a woman to grow in her potential is very rare and special. As special as the love between these two people. As a girl from a small town I can sympathize with those humorous trips to the beauty parlor. I hope that Ms. Feddersen continues this series for some time to come I always enjoyed each trip South.
