5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent. Book four of the Incognito series., May 23, 2008
The Network is the world's most covert organization. The HQ is in Chicago, underground, beneath a front company. They have unchallenged authority and skill to destroy criminals. The Network takes over where regular law enforcement leaves off. The people of this organization give up their entire lives to become agents of the Network. For them, there is no life and no love, only duty.

Twenty-five years ago a secret organization tried to recruit Daniel Sands. If he agreed, he would have to give up everyone and everything. Daniel's fiancé, Parris "Perry" L'Engle, overheard it all. Daniel refused, but the next day he died in a car accident. Daniel never knew Perry was pregnant. Today Perry is an FBI agent. Danny, her son, is a genius, just like his father had been. By chance, Perry overhears the exact same recruiter offering Danny the same thing he had once offered Daniel. Danny declines and the mystery man tells Danny to think it over and he would check back tomorrow.

Perry is frantic. She never believed Daniel died twenty-five years ago, but she has no found no proof. Worrying that the mystery man and the secret organization (if there even were one) may take Danny without his consent and stage his fake death, Perry pulls string to have Danny and his fiancé, Aimee, placed in protective custody while she follows the recruiter. Then the unexpected happens; Daniel gets into her car and tells her to back off and go home or he would have to kill her.

Roan Emory is no longer Daniel. He is now a top level operative in the Network. He is a machine without a heart or emotions. He is the most elusive and dangerous man in the world. The man Perry loved is dead. Though he never let a trace of recognition to Perry, Roan remembers her well and he is relieved when Perry boards her flight to return home. Problem is that Roan cannot turn a blind eye and let the Network take the son he never knew he had. And then there is Perry...

***** There is a one year difference between the ending of the last book and the beginning of this one. If possible, this story is even better than any of the previous. There is more going on than I can tell in the synopsis, dealing with an organization called R.E.D., but I can tell nothing without spoilers.

This plot takes awhile to fully develop; therefore, more characters are involved than usual. However, this also means that more is going on and the readers will have a hard time finding a moment to catch their breaths. There is little or no downtime in this story; I stress that. The middle is just as fast paced and intriguing as the beginning and the end. The main characters are well developed and so are most of the secondary ones. No time is wasted on the character development of those that have little input to the story. All-in-all, I am beginning to believe that the author, Karen Wiesner, has one of the most fertile imaginations I have ever seen. *****

5.0 out of 5 stars Dead Drop by Karen Wiesner-A Joyfully Recommended Title!!, November 8, 2008
This review is from: Dead Drop (Book 4 of the Incognito Series) (Paperback)
Believed to have been killed twenty-five years earlier in a car accident, no one knew Daniel Sand's car accident was all a cover created by the Network when they recruited him. Only his fiancé Parris `Perry' L'Engle suspected there was more to the accident. When she suspects the same thing may be happening to her son, Perry, now an FBI agent, will stop at nothing to save him. In her attempts to save her son Perry finds herself face to face with Roan Emory, a cold hearted agent of the network, whom a long time ago was Daniel the man she loved.

Dead Drop is another great installment to the Incognito series. The lead up to this fourth book is well worth the wait. I think this is the most emotional of the previous stories and so far my favorite. Each story of the Incognito series intensifies the series and keeps me wanting more. The action in this installment is top notch and the storyline made it hard for me to put this book down once I started it. It's difficult for me to give specifics of the book for fear I may give to much away, but I highly recommend Dead Drop. For any suspense novel lovers and for fans of Karen Wiesner `s Incognito series I Joyfully Recommend Dead Drop to you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Karen Wiesner has once again surpassed my expectations., December 6, 2007
This review is from: Dead Drop (Book 4 of the Incognito Series) (Paperback)
Dead Drop is the fourth book in the Incognito Series by Karen Wiesner and can be read as a stand alone book.

When Parris "Perry" L'Engle overheard her husband Daniel being recruited by a covert agency, she had no idea that it would change her life forever. Shortly after her husband turned the agency down, he was killed in a car accident, but Perry has never believed that her husband was dead since his body was never found. Now, 25 years later, Perry has overheard the same recruiter trying to take her son Danny away, and she is determined not to loose him to.

Perry knows that she has to work quickly to protect her son and his soon to be wife, and she also believes that the recruiter leaving Danny's office might just be the key she has been looking for to find her husband.

When Perry meets Roan Emery, she knows that her husband is still alive, but he is not the man she had known so many years ago. Can she convince this man to help her protect their son?

Dead Drop is another exciting adventure in the Incognito Series. Perry is one strong, determined lady that will stop at nothing to protect those that she loves. Even with all the heartbreak she has suffered in her life and the derision she has faced for her belief that her husband was dead, Perry stands up and does what needs to be done while keeping hope alive.

Roan has had his choices taken away by The Network and only survives by putting the work first and keeping his past buried.

Author Karen Wiesner has once again surpassed my expectations with the Incognito Series! Her characters have such life and passion in them that they stay with you long after the story is over. And I have to say that I love a book that keeps you in the moment and gives you no time to think ahead of what might be coming as Dead Drop does. If you haven't yet had a chance to read this series then you are definitely missing out on a great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars terrific character driven action thriller, October 18, 2007
This review is from: Dead Drop (Book 4 of the Incognito Series) (Paperback)
FBI agent Parris "Perry" L'Engle has always had doubts about the automobile accident that took the life of Daniel Sands over two decades ago as some of the "facts" made no sense. Still there was noting she could prove otherwise. Now she overhears a voice she has never forgotten; the covert agent who tried to recruit Daniel the day before he died. In fact it seems like déjà vu as he is now trying to recruit her son, Danny, Daniel's offspring.

Perry vows not this time. She follows this agent's trail to Chicago where she runs into Network undercover operative Roan Emory, whom she knows as Daniel. She assumes he gave up on her and their love. Roan realizes he can "breath" for the first in a quarter of a century, but also knows that the Network that snatched him will only free him in death; their threat to keep him in line is his beloved Perry and the adult child he did not know he sired.

The fourth Incognito thriller, DROP DEAD, is an exhilarating tale that grips the audience from the opening déjà vu sequence until the final confrontation. The lead couple makes the tale as this is no second chance at love since the network stopped the first time and prepares to intervene again. Although Karen Wiesner's latest book can stand alone as a terrific character driven action thriller, newcomers will want to read the previous saga (see NO ORDINARY LOVE, UNTIL DEATH DO US PART, and BOUNTY ON THE REBEL'S HEART) as these are some of the best novels around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Karen Wiesner enraptures her readers!, July 1, 2007
This review is from: Dead Drop (Book 4 of the Incognito Series) (Paperback)
5 Flags! "Author Karen Wiesner continues to demonstrate the enviable capacity to enrapture her readers within the first page or two of any story. DEAD DROP is no exception to this rule, for readers will find it a not-to-be-put-aside novel. As Book 4 in her outstanding Incognito Series about The Network, DEAD DROP works well as a series installment, but also as a stand-alone story. Readers, race to your nearest outlet and pick up DEAD DROP, then set aside a block of time sufficient to read it start to finish, because you will not be willing to put this book down until the end!" ~Annie for
