2.0 out of 5 stars It's got the one liners! And thats about all!!!
I bought this book based on all the 4 and mainly 5 star reviews.Wow I'm not getting it.Sure the Wangisms are funny but really thats about all. Reads like an old 70's or 80's era bad pulp novel. He basically runs around cracking off bad psuedo CHI/Japanese fortune cookie tidbits and kills a bunch of bad guys or animen or whatever you call them. The fight scene are real...

5.0 out of 5 stars Ruthless Ninja, October 31, 2003

This review is from: For Dead Eyes Only (Shadow Warrior, No 1) (Paperback)
Shadow Warrior is an action book about a modern-day ninja named, Lo Wang, that wants to get revenge and recover a powerful device able to destroy the world. The action is intense and bloody. In the first chapter of the book, some assassins try to kill, Lo Wang inside a sushi bar. Lo Wang, dispatches the baddies real quick and tortures the last one for information; he cuts a piece of the bad guy's nose and shows it to him. Yes the action is brutal and really not for kids (okay for teenagers). Lo Wang, the star of the story is ruthless against his enemies and yet has a snappy sense of humor. It was full of very funny one liners and it had me laughing out out. Very few books can deliver this type of excitement and humor, but Shadow Warrior: For Dead Eyes Only, has best of both worlds. I highly suggest buying it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool and Awesome as anything your apt to read, June 19, 1999

This book had my attention from the very start. Better that the Doom series. It plunges readers straight into our hero, Wang, and his quest for revenge. It was just literally fun travelling with him and wish-it-was-true girlfriend Flo. We are taken to many lands and many gory battles, all to end up in a climax unlike any other I have previously read. You don't have to be a fan of the game or even be a young to enjoy it.

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed reading this book. It was full of action, gore, and hysterical "Wang-talk" If you only read one book a year, this has to be it! I'm kinda mad the computer reveiw thingy would only let me put in 5 stars. Buy or at least barrow this book! Get the game too!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book I've ever Read!, June 23, 1998

This review is from: For Dead Eyes Only (Shadow Warrior, No 1) (Paperback)
Great martial arts novel based on the video game Shadow Warrior, along with the sequel of this book, Shadow Warrior #2, You Only Die Twice.

Join Lo Wang, the deadly ninja assassin. He must stop Dr. Exo! The madman moving continents with a device he stole from U.S. government!

Other characters are: Florelle Morgan (or so Wang thinks, she's really Dr. Exo's daughter! If she really was Florelle Morgan she'd be the daughter of this lady who's a scientist, Dr. K.D. Morgan, kidnapped by Dr. Exo!) Jefferson Adams (not really the president. He's a guy who names himself different president names and works for this mysterius guy, who even Adams, dosn't know who he is!) Le Peu, Candice Of Montana and Dr. Exo.

The bottom line is, I love this book and totally recomend it for people who love martial arts. It's a pretty cool story!

The fight scene are real basic/bland no real info on what he's doing just POW shoots 4 guys one time each.Throws glass knife into hood. Not all that exciting. All in all reads like a board game. Here is a hint story just stops like TV episode"to be continued"you have to keep buying the books and From what I've seen each is written by different author.Truth to tell it really is just a poor mans version of The destroyer series.I cannot recommend it as a good, much less great read.If you find it at a used book store for a buck or under then give it a whirl but don't waste your money like I did buying and then also paying for shipping.I pretty much wasted about 10 bucks by the time I paid shipping and I'm sure the usual bank charge.

I think that this book kick ass! If I could go 6 stars I would. I'd even go 10 stars. If you loved the game, or even if you haven't played the game. you'll love this book. I don't like to read much, and not even I could put this book down. Lo Wang truly is THE SHADOW WARRIOR! This should be #1 on your list! It's a real page turnner!!!
