well worth the money,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dead & Gone to Heaven Ep (Audio CD)
Don't be put off buying this cd cause it only has 5 tracks on it. It is worth the money just for 'Echo of Angels'! Kristy Thirsk has a truly amazing voice that is just so addictive that you'll find yourself buying everything she's done and waiting eagerly for her new material.

A showpiece for a shamelessly ignored band,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dead & Gone to Heaven Ep (Audio CD)
A short little E.P. that will take your mind away from life's mundanities for a few minutes. Okay, the music can be a bit depressing lyrically, but Kristy Thirsk's voice(the real highlight of this band) manages to invoke an otherworldly feeling that's so immersive, you won't care. All in all, atmospheric and pretty. Too bad they never reached stardom. A good choice for someone looking for something slightly different from the usual "Lilith Fare."

MAGNIFICENT,
By
This review is from: Dead & Gone to Heaven Ep (Audio CD)
This is a collection of magnificent songs in a highly unique atmospheric style, difficult to categorize but perhaps occupying parts of the same territory as Dead Can Dance, Delerium, various psychedelic bands or even Cocteau Twins. Opening with the majestic Awaiting Eternity, a tour de force with a heavenly melody and lyrics, it's into the more dreamy Echo Of Angels and then my other favourite Hollow Sea. A very enjoyable album and worth 5 stars for Awaiting Eternity alone.

Brilliant debut from a brilliant band...,

This is a stunning CD, the first release from Rose Chronicles. From the opening track, you know that there is something special here, and that feeling continued through all of RC's CDs. Kristy Thirsk is the most amazing female singer ever, and her lyrics are brilliant. Once Kristy and Rose Chronicles grab a hold of you, they will never let go. I'm addicted for life now.

Why bother with an E.P.?,
By Merlin (UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dead & Gone to Heaven Ep (Audio CD)
Because this one is probably the best E.P. I've ever stumbled upon. While the two full length albums that followed have moments of both euphoric genius and distinct averageness, this début disc was arguably their finest moment.
The pace and energy of the musicianship stands up by itself and that alone - for me - would warrant it's purchase, but top honours have to go to Kristy Thirsk's amazing voice which leads the way from the outset. I've never known a voice like it, swooping and soaring, reaching impossible high notes and pulling the whole thing into another league. Awesome!
