4.0 out of 5 stars ADHD, January 14, 2004

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Dead Leprechaun in a Tire-Swing (Paperback)
Since most of us do have some sort of attention-deficit disorder, this book is perfect! I often get frustrated, b/c I am not able to finish a chapter -- let alone a book.

Instead, Fleming gives a great ride in "Leprechaun". What I love is how he opens up. You feel his hate, his passion, disdain, scorn. He doesn't hide what his devious way of thinking. Very entertaining! Just don't think of giving this book as a gift to your Catholic mother in Pittsburgh.

NOTE: I gave this 4 stars, b/c there are passages that I prefer to skip over.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the love of satire!!, December 12, 2003
This review is from: Dead Leprechaun in a Tire-Swing (Paperback)
This book is not for the faint of heart. In his usual shoot from the hip straight into your gut style, Fleming has succeeded again to shock even his oldest fans. This collection of short stories dissecting the "average" Mensch is short of hilarious, black humor at its best.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wild & Intelligent, December 16, 2003

T.G. Fleming is an incredibly imaginative writer. "Dead Leprechaun in a Tire-Swing" is mostly made up of short, comedic pieces (a few longer ones), but almost none miss the mark. The author flip-flops between dozens of distinct voices, but always with a surreal twist that never telegraphs the punchline. Every page has a new surprise to make you laugh out loud, provoke thought, or both. A remarkably diverse talent.

I can't begin to describe how much I enjoyed this book. When most of the new books on the shelves seem like they were written by the same hacks that churn out sit-coms for TV, it's refreshing to find a talented radical who can bring us an intense, original perspective on the world. Now if only we had more like him.
