This review is from: Dead Man in Silver Market (Hardcover)
I had read "Dead man in the Silver Market" while in high school in the early 1960's. I recalled a couple scenes as being very interesting, and happened to think of it while online, ordered it, and enjoyed rereading it.
I think the author was pretty well known from the New Yorker back in the day. He was half (East) Indian / half Irish, and grew up mostly in England. About 1/3 of the book recounts his visits to India, which are absolutely fascinating. He has a great mix: an outsiders viewpoint but an insiders connections. The rest is his take on the world of the 1950's, relationships, etc. This part is OK. |
