5.0 out of 5 stars Thanks Ashley for the CD! (Yummmm)
Hey, who are these guys anyhoo? Hey, we southern belles love rock and roll too, alright? We wanted to complement our picks for "next best and brightest stars of tomorrow" on a job well done. We don't normally go out of our way to review other records, but this was all too good to pass up. These young boys rock and make us feel like teenagers all over...

3.0 out of 5 stars .
the end has possibility. will they render? will they just become another Mr. Mister: full potential, then fall 2 zero.

Damon, the consumate renderer, wants 2 know- hopes it goes full blast.

Gimme a tight click 2 the kick drum; 'oh, the humanity'.

We don't normally go out of our way to review other records, but this was all too good to pass up. These young boys rock and make us feel like teenagers all over again. What amazing writing and production! Love Song, All of You, Society Girl, Fab, and Midnight Fare are drop dead number one hits to us. Good luck boys and just be patient. Dreams do come true.

With love and kisses, your new fans,

The Dixie Chicks

5.0 out of 5 stars Run, don't walk., November 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: dead man's radio (Audio CD)
I don't know why I haven't heard of these guys prior to hearing their CD at a party recently. What a shame. Hey, spread the word and let everyone know that these guys are the real thing. As I said, run, don't walk to anywhere that carries their CD. The singer sounds like what would happen if Chris Cornell and Stevie Wonder had a child. The drummer is tight and rocking. The harmonies are amazing. The guitars are like Queen meets Van Halen, but in a modern way. The bassist has an amazing feel and plays like Jaco Pastorius would have played it. I'm not a musician, but I know great music when I hear it. Run, don't walk.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sonic Masterpiece!, November 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: dead man's radio (Audio CD)
A good friend of mine from Los Angeles turned me on to this disc, and all I have to say is that he is absolutely right. This album is a classic, and it's a shame that you don't hear too much about them other than by word of mouth.

I am an American sound engineer living in Italy now and have worked with all the best. I know all the tricks and have heard the best sounding stuff, but this disc is light years beyond any other disc out there now in terms of songwriting, production value and sonic quality. There are new things you hear every time you listen to it. My favourite might have to be LAUGHING or ALL OF YOU because the mixes are so packed and they slam you against the wall with passion.

I can't say enough about a disc that everyone should have as a reference of what a great album should sound like.

5.0 out of 5 stars These guys are the next huge thing!, September 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: dead man's radio (Audio CD)
I heard one of their songs on the radio in another city and I had to find out where to get the record. I'm glad I did! I read the other reviews and have to agree that these guys will be the next big group to take us into the new millenium. They have some pretty important fans, too. I predict they will be as big as the Stones in a few years. I heard on the air that they've only really been together for less than a year and recorded the whole record in less than two weeks. Very impressive. I think only true legends can do that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love It!!!, June 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: dead man's radio (Audio CD)
A few of these songs (Society Girl, Love Song, Fab) could easily be in the Top 10 by the end of the year. I loved the songs the first time I heard them. The End is sure to be hitting the charts soon. Way to go!

5.0 out of 5 stars Please borrow my eye shadow, Johnny., June 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: dead man's radio (Audio CD)
Modern radio music: take it or leave it. Dead Man's Radio: definitely take it and put it someplace deep and private. Every song is worthy of a mantra, although "Fare" gets a healthy dose of repeat functionality on my CD player.

I'm always searching for a reincarnation or even a trace of what honest and soul-defining music would sound and feel like today. Not much out there, save for what these five lads have put out so far. Lyrics even I can appreciate and maybe wish I wrote at some other time in my life.

Artists with longevity and careers are rare in this zoo called the music industry, and I don't know how labels think anymore (THEY don't even know how they think anymore), but I'm just plum peachy about the fact that guys like The End can, and will, I predict, rise to the top. Yah, they'll be here, painting the proverbial lipstick on the next sacrificial social edifice in twenty to thirty years. I only hope I'll be here, as well.

Lou Reed, New York City

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty darn good!, May 25, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: dead man's radio (Audio CD)
I heard some of their music (bootleg) and immediately bought the CD online. If "it" is what is required in the music biz, then The End has "it" in spades. Great pairing of music and lyrics, especially "Friends in High Places", my favorite track. These guys all have great resumes in the industry; why haven't we heard of them before?

5.0 out of 5 stars How do you nominate Grammys, anyway?, May 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: dead man's radio (Audio CD)
Once in a great while, an album comes along that is a monumental work and becomes a milestone. A few that come to mind are The White Album by The Beatles, The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, The Miseducation of Lauren Hill, and Dead Man's Radio by The End (even the title gives it away). If you don't get it now, you will eventually, I assure you. That's it for me.

If Amazon would be so kind as to sell the same substance these guys were on when they recorded this trippy record. Not entirely sure if these guys are majorly possessed or just extremely gifted. My hunch is that it's a little of both. I'd buy the record for the artwork and photos alone. It's just icing on the cake that this music happens to blow the current radio garbage away. Already waiting for the next one.
